SOURCE: GE EVOLUTION Glass top. The hot surface(Glass top)

Individual burners, located directly under the cooktop glass, contain a temp sensor which lights up the hot surface lamp when they sense a hot condition. If the light stays on after all burners are cool, one of the sensors has shorted out. The sensors are an integral part of the burner, so the offending burner must be replaced to solve your constant on hot light.

SOURCE: water left in bottom of ge evolution dishwasher.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

SOURCE: My GE Evolution Max dishwasher is not draining.

If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these:

Drain line/air gap
A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again. Pump Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support. Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them. Drain valve and/or solenoid Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water. Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing. Belt One brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. If this belt is broken or has fallen off, replace it. Motor If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section "It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced. Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced. Timer Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer. This problem is uncommon.

How do secure this DW to the inside top of cabinet... there are no holes to skrew through!

This is sort of strange, you give no info on what kind, model brand anything.
I will try to help anyway though. most dishwashers come with TWO REMOVABLE BRACKETS that clip to the top.
A single short wood screw goes through the bracket into the underside of the counter top.
IF YOU HAVE A SOLID SURFACE OR GRANITE COUNTER TOP, you might have to side mount the dishwasher. You might have to order the side mount brackets from the manufacturer or a parts house. Some stainless models have a little removable plug on each side that will accept a wood screw that goes into the cabinets on each side.
If you need more information please give us the brand and model number of the dishwasher.

I have a new GE Profile dishwasher and granite countertop. How do I attach it so it doesn't tip. I can't use the tabs at the top as the granite is right there. Any help?

Open door and look for removable hole cover along left and right side, several inches down from the top. Use a wood screw to secure the side of the dishwasher to the cabinets there, then replace the hole covers.

Dishwasher door drops hard when opened.

Sounds like one of the doors springs is broken or has come detached from the dishwasher housing frame. If you have a plain dishwasher door, ie one that does not have a wood panel matching your cabinets, and the spring(s) are broken, new springs cost about $20. If you have wood panel on the dishwasher door, then you may need heavy duty replacement spring at about $22.

I'm having my kitchen counter tops replaced with granite. I have a GE Model GSD700 dishwasher that is now attached to the existing counter top. The granite counter tops will not accept having a dishwasher...

• Purchase and install the GPF65 side-mount
bracket kit if the underside of counter is granite
or a similar material that will not accept wood
screws. The GPF65 kit is available from authorized
GE appliance dealers.

Also note that any stainless steel tub models would be able to accomadate granite tops without a kit, and I beleive all Profile GE models come with the kit included.
