Sony 49 XBR 900 E power will not come on unless the plug is taken out from the set and reconnected. Can you tell me which board should be replaced?

I have had a number of these complaints and I have always repaired it by replacing the evap fan motor. It is a much cheaper part, however, its way more difficult to install than the main board. Yes many other techs say it can be resolved with a new main board and yes it is just a matter of plugging the wires in. I would be very interested to see if indeed it does resolve the howling. It will come with an instruction sheet that says you will need to cut a wire from one of the harnesses. Just disregard this if indeed your model is the one that you selected and is fairly new. The power supply board can be changed without any knowledge of repair but there are sometimes adjustments necessary if the picture is not normal. Many times it is fine. There a 4-5 voltage adjustments that would take some knowledge and a meter to accomplish. You need to hope it was diagnosed properly first. If it is completely dead the p.s is a good possibility. If it clicks on then back off almost immediately it is not likely the power supply.

I had the same problem with same model TV a year back, they replaced some board (I was not there at home) as I had warranty and after a year same issue popped up again.. Can you please tell me what board replacement worked for you. I don't have warranty anymore.
