It sounds like the thermocouple is either faulty, in need of a clean or needs adjusting.

SOURCE: My SMEG oven won't stay

Hi, it is your thermocouple. It's worth having a look first prior to getting someone to replace it though. You will see a small "probe" that sits in the flame which is the thermocouple, this is the fail safe device that cuts off the gas should the flame go out. When it heats up it keeps the gas on but when it cools (when the flame goes out) it will not let any gas through unless you have the knob held in. Three checks:

  • look at the end of the probe and see if it's sitting in the flame, it may have been knocked to one side during use or cleaning which will prevent it working - gently push it back into place and try again.
  • Has the probe become covered in grease etc which is preventing it working properly - clean with a rag and try again.
  • Is the end of the probe heavily corroded - if so will need replacing.
  • Sometimes they just get tired so will require slightly longer to warm up and hold. When you light the stove hold the knob in for 15 seconds and see if it holds then.
If none of the above work get a gas safe chappie round and put you a new one in.

Westinghouse oven LPG 527 wont stay alight and grill wont start

Normally the grill is completely separate to the oven. Press the ignitor before you turn on the grill, as, to ignite, oxygen needs to be present (ie: not flooded with gas) . and you should be able to see the spark from the ignitor in the grill. if you can't, then you may have problems with your ignition pack or ignition leads.

Smeg gas hobs ignite immediately but flame goes out when i let go of the igniter. I have to hold it down for a very long time befor it stays alight. this is time consuming and not right. What is the...

depending on what you mean by " a very long time " -- holding down the gas valve button while the thermo-coupling gets up to the proper temperature is normal. ( normal hold and wait time should be between 10 to 25 seconds, anything longer than that is a sign that the thermo-coupling is bad ).
