I had two RAM, one is a DDR 333 256MB and the other one is a DDR 266 256MB.then suddenly DDR 266 stopped functioning.now i only have a DDR 333 256MB.could you please help me know what is this motherboard's(ASUS P4S533-VM) real RAM or i mean what is the real RAM that this mobo is most compatible with.?
Dear sir,
In reply to your post- Generally now a days we use DDR400 RAM(DDR 1) for this type of motherboard. So DDR 400 RAM is More compatible then other RAM,you can use this RAM for your motherboard to obtain good performance.
good luck

Please see the mainboards specs in the manual:
http://www.ibora.net/board/up/1077775087-e1058_p4s533-vm.pdf
-your board has four RAM module slots of two kind,
-of which only two can hold the maximum capacity of 2GB of RAM-Modules (2x1GB, PC2700,SD-RAM) at a time.
- any SD-RAMs labelled PC2100 and above fit your board, the newer ones (PC2700, for e.g. are down-compatible, will run with slower frequency, but fit though)
- make sure that insert two similiar (a pair)
modules, else one might go up in smoke (i learnt that, too.)
- so depending on how much you are willing to spend on new ones(that you want to use in a newer machine later on??)
u can spend either around 50 bucks (for the 2x512MB PC2700) modules
or 90 (for the 2x1GB, PC3200 version, the future option).
Up to U!
hlo hyn you should get RAM 200/266 MHz of 512mb or 1Gb
below are the specifications your motherboard can support.
