Try re-seating the DVD drive so it makes proper connection to the motherboard, then go into the BIOA setting to see if the DVD drive is detected. If the DVD drive is not detected in the BIOS then most likely the DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.
Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com andin the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Downloadand install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It'sa very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formatsand media. It's totally FREE.
Try hitting on F8 button after restarting the computer again and again in quick sessions..
it should go to WINDOWS ADVANCED OPTIONS..
select the options that says..
if ur able to go to desktop screen..
go to start -- all programs -- accesories - system restore.. and restore the computer to an earlier date and time..
if ur unable to do so .. then my friend.. ur computer is in serious trouble.. and u will have to perform a Factory Reset on ur computer..
to do that.. restart the computer again..
and then start tapping F11..
once on that screen u need to select the option..
I need Help Immediately or Advanced..
there select option.. SYSTEM RECOVERY or FACTORY RESET..
but before u do that.. remove any device connected to ur computer apart from Keyboard Mouse and Monitor an Power Supply..
once u start.. it will ask to take back up which u can do there.. and then select next once done.. and ur computer should be up in approximately 30 mins.. :-P
Hi. Azrul here. Here is 2 of my best solution for your problem:
1. Online support from your PC's manufacturer. Restart your PC using a Windows XP/Vista CD and download all the related drivers for your PC online (you will need your compaq presario model number for this)
2. There is also an option to purchase the restore disc online. Depending on the age of the PC that you purchased, just google for "Compaq" or "Hewlett-Packar"and get the restore disk from there.
