Husqvarna Viking Platinum 950E sewing/embroidery machine insists the bobbin is empty, though it's not, and stops sewing every handful of stitches. Can I turn off the sensor to finish this project?

I have tried rewinding the bobbin, tried the Husqvanara green spools & generic clear spools, taken the bobbin casing/housing apart to completely clean and blow it out, and changed thread types & needles.

SOURCE: picking up bobbin thread

First easy thing to check, are you using the correct length needle.
If this is not the problem then somehow the needle bar has moved and the the needle depth is to high or the timing is wrong..
Unless you really know what you are doing then I am afraid a sewing machine tech needs to reset the needle depth and subsequently the timing.

SOURCE: Picking up the bobbin thread

A few suggestions:

  1. Rethread top of machine from scratch with the presser foot raised, i.e. remove thread completely from all thread guides & paths and start from scratch, making sure thread is securely seated between tension disks. Once the needle is re-threaded, lower the presser foot and give the tail end of the thread a tug to make sure there's tension on it.
  2. Make sure the bobbin is turning the correct direction for your machine - and that the thread tail is under the tension plate or bobbin tension guide (depending on machine).
  3. Blow out any fuzz.
  4. Insert a new needle, making sure needle is pushed all the way up.
  5. Oil machine (in locations recommended in your owner's manual).
If the basic cleaning and re-threading (above) don't help, your machine(s) may be out of time or have another mechanical issue that will require a repair technician. We recommend a tech trained on your specific brands - they'll be better trained and able to get any repair parts that may be needed.

Hope this helps narrow down your stitching problems.

Happy sewing,
Kim & Linnette

SOURCE: Not picking up the Bobbin thread

I cleaned the machine good with canned air, oiled it. I took out the bobbin case and cleaned it good also. I then noticed the tension screw on the bobbin case was loose, tightened it and the problem was fixed.

SOURCE: husqvarna viking Platinum 775 fabric won't advance

Most of the time the bobbin case gets hung under the feed dogs, take your needle plate off and the bobbin cover there is a gray colored finger with a number 10 torx screw holding it in you can also try a small flat head screw driver, remove that finger and then remove your bobbin clean the hook out and replace the bobbin making sure it seats itself on the hook with the small notch on the bobbin case lining up with a small metall spring on the back right side of the hook area.

No they have to be on the outside and visible by law. It should be at the back where the power goes in. Voltage, Power Consumption, Maker, Model Number and Serial Number,

Need a manual for Husqvarna Platinum 950E sewing machine?

Unfortunately, I don't know of any free sources of the manual. It is available here: http://www.sewingmanuals.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/Viking.htm . Scroll down to the 64th item in the list. You can also check with a Husqvarna Viking sewing machine dealer in your area.

I hope this helps.

(I know that many dealers can get the manual for you. I was able to get a manual for an older Bernina serger for a minimal fee a few years ago.)

My Viking 950 won't sew or thread a bobbin, this has never happeed before, am I missing something?

There is a lever on the bobbin winder which needs to be shifted back or the knob for cranking the machine into position needs to be pushed or retracted back so it would engage the machine and not the bobbin winder.

I have a Husqvarana 950E sewing machine/ how to wind the bobbin?

I can't recall just where the bobbin winder mechanism is located on this model. It might be on the front/top right-hand side, like on the 600 series and the Designer series??? If so, go to this website:
http://www.sewmuch4retirement.com/tips/threadingbobbin.html
This shows the Designer 1 machine, but the basics would be the same.

When I sew with the regular portion of my Designer One, all is fine. I've been using the embroidery attachment and when I embroidery a simple design, the top looks great, but the bobbin thread is sooo taut...

The bobbin tension sounds ok if regular sewing is ok. The upper tension unit may be the culprit in that there are loose threads or fluff causing the discs not to tighten enough for embroidery. The best solution is to have it serviced by an authorized husqvarna viking dealer. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Good luck.
