Presario SR1030AN Turning on but not booting or POST or no any beep at all.

Presario SR1030AN.
I can turning on the PC but not booting or POST or no any beep at all.

What happen was that a couple of months ago I just replaced a hard disk and everything was fine. But a week ago, I tried to switch on the computer that I used till the previuos night, but nothing happen. I checked the rear and found the PS LED on the rear is only flashing. So I went through the procedures to diagnose the fault. the flashing LED came steady when I removed the 10-pin ATX power supply from the mobo with everything removed except the microprocessor (Athlon Xp 2500+). I ordered and replaced the mobo, but it came up with the same flashing the PSU LED. But I kept it for about 10 seconds, the led coming steady and the PC now can be turned on, but no booting nor nothing on the screen (monitor is good).

Please help me,

Thanks in advance.

You bios is part of your motherboard. Swap your processor and try using one one stick of RAM at a time. Process of elimination will kill this bug, however, I hope you have nice friends that you can borrow parts from.

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
make sure that your RAM is securely seated
test or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive make sure the connections are secure including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your
((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

Booting Problem

The first question is, are you attempting to boot from your CD ROM and if so why? I need to understand more about what is happening before I attempt to answer your problem. Are you attempting to fix a problem or re-install your operating system? Do you always boot from a CD and if so, why not the hard drive? Is the same operating system installed on both your laptop and your desktop?

Tried everthing just cant get this thing to boot up

Sounds like you may need your screen replaced.

Upon turning on your laptop,
Keep pressing F8, until you hear a beep. This will give you the option to boot to safe mode. When you hear a beep, and NOTHING comes on your screen within 20 seconds, you need to have your LCD screen replaced.

Typically if its a hardware problem such as RAM, you'll hear 2 beeps or a POST message will display on your screen, letting you know that a certain piece of hardware failed.

Ive seen problems occur when people change a setting such as :
Right click on your desktop --> Properties --> Settings --> Advanced Button

And changing your DPI. This can cause your screen to go out (Not display anything). If its up to high chances are your LCD screen can not handle it. If you boot to safe mode, then you can fix this. Again if you cant boot to safe mode, then you have a mad LCD.

Give this a try and let me know what happens.

Oh one more things.

One thing i have also seen, more than once, and till this day i can not explain it, but a USB device plugged in. Remove ANY USB device plugged to your computer. Printer, FLASH Drive, Mouse, etc. Then turn on your computer.

If you have a floppy drive, remove the floppy.
If you have a CD/DVD in your tray, turn the computer on to take it out.

Read this and then call HP at the number listed in the article. You might qualify for a free repair under a special enhanced warranty program. This is a known issue with your computer.

Cant See Post

The 2 beeps are an error code. It can mean a couple of things; 1. Bad or improperly seated RAM; or 2. Bad or improperly seated video card. The F2 option will take you into bios setup. But I would try the video card option first as it is the usual culprit in this situation. Hope this helps & please rate this solution fixya. Thanks.

Can not get any boot at all

Hi, First of all, your hard drive is what this computer needs to boot up. Try to see if you can POST, that is, only plug in power supply to motherboard with cpu and memory in there. Don't put any hard drive or other device into motherboard as yet. see if it reaches past post. If it does, then plug in hard drive and see if the problem occurs again. If it does, then the problem is the hard drive. But for now try reaching past post with only the bare necessary components for startup. Then let me know what happens.
