I removed the back panel , located the power supply board and inspected it for defects. I noticed on the secondary side the CB appears to be dark from overheating . There is a transformer straddling the primary and secondary side . From there is where the overheating has occurred . In order to repair this should I just replace everything in the over heated zone ? Do parts just go bad or is there a cause ? I see two swollen caps , one side of the mentioned transformer and a filter that look damaged .

Take a closer look at the power board fuses. There is a fuse numbered 106 a little ways away from the rest of them. I have this same model and got it working long enough to diagnose a bad flyback transformer by replacing this fuse with one from Radio Shack. At some times, I could put in a new fuse and have the set work for a few weeks. The flyback transformer is available from parts.pioneerelectronics.com for around $60.
SOURCE: Hello, I need to replace my furnace control board
Hello,The transformer (breaks) if the secondary is shorted for any reason. Also a power surge to the house/building will kill it (lighting strike/car hitting telephone pole). It might cause damage to the board. It is cheaper to try a new transformer BUT add a inline 3 amp fuse in the secondary so that will be the last transformer you have to replace(just fuses)if the short is hard to find.Power up the old board & see if it works, unless there is obvious damage. The plug sometimes comes with a new board because there is a wiring change to install it(on some) replacement boards.

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.
Please post back what you find.

You should buy a sodering kit and remove the buldging capacitors yourself. Find a local electronics store, I used Radioshack, and see if they can match the capacitors. I had this happen with my Samsung lcd about a year ago and just help another friend with the same issue yesterday. The sodering is not as hard as you'd think. The capacitors should be under $5 v. paying a few hundred for the power board.
SOURCE: I own a Westinghouse L1975NW,
Did you recheck the MOSFETs? You will need a set of test lamps to test the inverter to see if it is the inverter or the lamp assemblies. I am surprised that the kit only contains 2 caps, it should have at least 4 caps, 2 each for the 5v and the 18vdc power supply section. Take the DC reading on the caps to see what you have, take the reading WITHOUT turn on the monitor (the power supply is running al the time), then turn on the montior to see if it maintains the output voltages.
