If you don't want to reformat your system, I think you have to make a rest disk or use some tool to do all the job for you. Such as Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0. Burn a boot CD with the program, and insert it into the problem computer and your password will be reset to "Blank".

You would need to do a factory data reset. If you have data backed up, you will be able to retrieve it.
Power off the tablet. Press and hold the Volume Up and the Power button.

There are two ways to unlock your Tablet so that you can gain access to your Tablet. The first way you can unlock the device will be to enter your pattern/password that you placed on the Tablet. The second option will be for you to enter your Gmail information so that you can gain access to your Tablet without losing all of your information.
If you have forgotten your password you will still be able to gain access to your device by using your Gmail information to log in after you have entered your password wrong multiple times. If you have forgotten your Gmail information you could visit Gmail in order for you to get your log in information for your account.

How do you reset the password as we have forgotten it

If it's linked to your google account you should be able to reset it. Taken from user manual:

After five wrong entries, you can reset
your unlock pattern. Tap Forgotten
pattern? and enter your Google account
username and password.
Note: You must have an active
Google account on the tablet and
an Internet connection.
If this option is not available, please
contact your local Acer service
center.

Dgm t-909 tablet my son set a formation password has either forgotten it or tried too many times and locked it. i tried the reset button and nothing happened

Hold down the power button and the up volume button at the same time for about 30 -60 seconds. The device should go to the factory reset screen if not use power on button to get to the screen. You will lose all data stored. I know this works as I have just done the same to my nieces as she forgot her password.
