Why can't I record from a Samsung TV Model LE40C530 to a USB stick?

from Technika manual: Start Quote
VCR/DVD Recorder; I have connected the TV to my VCR or DVD Recorder via SCART but it is not recording. In addition to connecting via SCART, you should connect the aerial cable from the wall socket to your VCR/DVD Recorder and another aerial cable from the VCR/DVD Recorder to the TV." Also; "Check the DVD is a region 2 disc - to change the region of the DVD player, refer to section 'Changing Regions'.

Note: USB record function is only avilable in Digital/Freeview TV/Radio mode. Due to copyright laws and illegal copying/recording it is not possible to record to/from any other input/output source.

DVD MENU: To access this menu, press [MENU] button on the remote control. TV System - Choose from the following options. NTSC; Normally used for discs from North America, Japan etc.
Auto; For both NTSC and PAL. This TV/DVD player is pre-set to play Region 2 DVDs.
Tip: This television contains one TV tuner, therefore it can only record the channel you are watching or record one channel while the television is in standby mode.

You can not record to a DVD, according to their manual. That is why you get the no disc error. It does not have the play sector at the beginning of the DVD. You can record to USB Flash Drive however.

enter your model number and click on "Find All Results".
then click on your model to find all the available languages Samsung has and download the one you want, example - English.

It is probably a bad power supply board and yes I have had to replace this board on new machines before. You need to call 1-800-samsung and set up a warranty service call.

YOU CANT RECORD FROM A SCART TO USB, THE SCART IS IN ONLY AND ANALOGUE. YOU SHOULD HAVE A USB PORT ON THE TV TO PLUG IN YOUR STICK OR PORTABLE HARD DRIVE

It is in the tv programming so your tv cannot pass on a signal

Make sure your USB Stick is formatted to the correct format for your TV: QLED and SUHD TVs support FAT, exFAT, and NTFS file systems. Full HD TVs support NTFS (Read Only), FAT16 and FAT32.

The USB stick is already formatted to FAT32. Is there anything else I can do please?

I have done some more digging and it seems you cannot record direct from the TV to a USB stick, you would a separate DVR type recorder. The USB interface on the TV only allows playback of media which has been put on the USB Stick from another source. Sorry its not better news. There are Samsung recorders which can be controlled from your TV remote using the Anynet+ system on your TV.
