New XD (M) cards do not work.

Future Shop told me to go to company and see if there is a patch that can be downloaded to the camera to allow using these cards.

Dont know if this helps but i had a problem that was similar, turns out card is not compatible, check here to see if you have a compatible card

Olympus cards don't always work in Fuji cameras. Maybe not at all in older Fuji's.
You could try and update the firm ware in your camera and see if that does anything (if it's available on the Fuji website) Go to the service and support section on the web site and you may be lucky

I had the same problem. Solution is to get !G card made by Olympus. That works. 2G does not.

it will work just fine! a xd card is a xd card-olympus only brands the card to make a few bucks off it-they are usually made by pny or sandisk.

I cannot get card to work in my fuji finepix a 340 says write error inserted Olympus Xd picture card . ASfter attemting to take picture, rec'd message that it could not initialize.

If your new xD card is an "H" or "M" type card, it is only compatable with the A340 following a firmware upgrade to the camera. http://www.fujifilm.ca/x3721.xml is a link to the software and steps you can take to perform the upgrade.
