Communications Error. If there is any breakdown in communication between the machine controller and the motor controller, "CE" flashes and the unit beeps once. All of the possible causes require service of some kind. You can google for the service manual of your model # if you are so inclined to try self-service repairs but you need to be comfortable working with electronic circuit boards (behind the control panel). I would not attempt any of this kind of repair unless you had some experience, for you can make the problem worse if you do not handle the electronics correctly.

There is a Rotor Position Sensor on the motor under the tub. 1st try unplugging and re-installing the sensor connector several times to clean the contacts. If this doesn't work, replace the sensor.

CE stands for Communication error. The Calypso has 2 circuit boards inside that touchpad area. One is the motor control board and the other is the machine control board. They are not "talking" to each other for some reason. The boards are warranted for 5 years on most machines. This machine is the subject of a class action lawsuit. Just Google Whirlpool Calypso sit back and start reading.

Check the fuse on the motor control board and see if it is blown. If so, You could just have a bad board, but it may be a drive motor or pump motor. The most common thing is for the pump seal to leak into the pump motor and cause a short.

The CE code means the 2 boards can not communicate with each other so be sure to check the wiring connectors between them. Post back with what you find out.
