Question about GE Washing Machines
I have the above GE Hydrowave washing machine, and am getting a 7 Flash code on the motor Lid switch. I replaced the lid switch, and the machine worked for 4 loads before failing again. I verified the switch works. I attempted reset power down for 1 minute, plugged back in, opened and closed the lid 6 times within 12 seconds, and it will not reset. Is there anything else I should check before replacing the motor/inverter assembly?
hi thanks for the question. i think the problem is with the lid switch . lifting the lid 10 times wont help if the switch is faulty check the lid switch thanks the appliance doc

we just bypass them, unless your going to stick your hand in there during spin cycle,-unplug washer, remove the 2 head screws 1 on each side of the head, flip the head up,you will see the lid switch jack in the middle of the top of washer, unplug it,cut the 2 outside wires and wire nut them together, plug back in,put the head back, plug in washer and your done, this way it cost you nothing to fix,the other way would be around $40,let me know how you do-mike

This is the electronic washer. Unplug for two minutes, plugin then open and close lid 7 times. This will reset motor. Also make sure belt is not broken.

it sounds like you know how to remove the frount panal, remove the frount panal.put unit in spin, look to see if belt is turning,if it is not than you have a bad cluch.

Take the lid off, just open it & pull it straight up.There should be a little red button that the lid strikes against unless its a different model,in that case it has a magnetic reed switch under the right hand side of the hob.press this red switch instead of closeing lid,see if it fill with no problem.the lid may not be making good contact with switch..if thats not it then it may be the inlet valve..then you can try the hot,if theres no problem with hot then its the cold valve.

Testimonial: "Very helpful, as I was completely ignorant about the workings of a washing machine. Replied promptly and had a good sense of humour - important in a crisis!"
