You downloaded the drivers? Did you install them?
After downloading, you Double-clicked on the file, then followed the instructions of the Installation Wizard?

Which driver did you install?

The RealTek LAN Driver for Windows XP (v.5.621.304.2005; 12-06-2005; 2M),

Or, the Intel PRO 10/100 Model Driver v.8.0.43.0
(v8.0.43.0; 12-18-2006; 425K)

Sure, you download from Toshiba Support, and the downloads page for the Satellite A105-S101,

    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/...

Where it has -> Operating Systems, in the box, click on the down arrow on the right side of the box. Then click on Windows XP. Wait, and downloads will show up for WinXP.
Now go to the box on the right, ( All Categories), and click on the down arrow on the right side of the box.
    Click on -> LAN

How do you know you have a RealTek wireless card? Download the Intel version this time, and install it.

Hmmmm, which version of Atheros is it?

    http://www.atheros.cz/

On the computer you're using now. Download Belarc Advisor. Copy it to CD disk. Install it in that Satellite A105-S101 laptop.

    http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Belarc Advisor is a free tiny, little program that will tell you what software, and hardware, is installed in that Toshiba Satellite. (On the Belarc homepage, go to the right, and click on ->
'Click here to download your free copy of the Belarc Advisor', in the oval circle)

See what LAN device it uses.

Format windows 7 and install windows xp

Use the XP install disk to format the drive during the install process with NTFS file system. Then install XP.

If the disk does not allow you to go backwards to an older OS you need to format the existing drive in your laptop with external software on a usb or cd rom, etc. Then do the xp install. Before doing the deed make sure you download the drivers needed for the XP install on a usb stick or something.

The drivers for the hardware don't exist for windows 8. You need to format. turn on holding the 0 key. follow steps to set to factory defaults, save your pictures and documents first cause this will erase them.

go to above website and download your relevant, drivers, in fact download them all, and install and reboot, one by one, that way you have all latest drivers installed, as it is now, you only have Windows Generic drivers for all your things.

I have a 54g MaxPerformance 802.11g adapter which came with my compaq presario. My wireless network worked with WEP but won't with this computer using WPA2. I think I need to update the driver. Which one...

I do not believe that updating the driver for your network card will solve the problem, although you should always install the newest one for best operation. You can go to Compaq's support page here and see if there is an update available for your model.

If WEP worked for you and WPA doesn't, then it is an encryption problem. Encryption happens on a different layer than the driver, which simply makes your Operating System work with your hardware.

If you are running Windows XP SP1 or SP2, update the operating system to XP Service Pack 3 for best WPA/WPA2 support.

XP Service Pack 1 computers do not support WPA by default and cannot support WPA2. To upgrade an XP SP1 computer to support WPA (but not WPA2), either
  • install the "Windows XP Support Patch for Wi-Fi Protected Access" (link) from Microsoft, or
  • upgrade the computer to XP SP2
XP Service Pack 2 computers by default support WPA but not WPA2. To upgrade an XP SP2 computer to also support WPA2, install the "Wireless Client Update for Windows XP SP2" (link) from Microsoft.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Samsung r60 no wireless device anymore

Download "DRIVER MAX" it's free and will scan your computer, find installed drivers and hardware, then find the latest drivers for it. I have just changed from Vista (rubbish) to XP on my Tosh. The wireless card on mine is on the ethernet card so to use wireless I had to enable the ethernet card so that driver max could "find" the wireless card. You will be suprised, as I was, how many drivers you are using are XP default drivers. And how much better your laptop runs after just a few new drivers are installed.

The DWL-G510 doesn't start

If you have formated all your drives you will have no official motherboard drivers for your pci bridge, sound driver, onboard lan or video, usb or agp slots, only the generic windows drivers which arent always reliable, so check you motherboard model and then go to the manufacturer web site and download the correct drivers. All the work you have done was unnecassry unfortunately, unless it gave you major system faults, the fault may have been motherboard drivers, i also recommend removing the pci card and before installing the board drivers and using a different pci slot.
