On our machine the door latch seems temperamental and we have to push the door closed quite hard. It will then start.

Then my advise to you is don't worry about it! The unit should be under warranty. It's time to make the call. Let the warranty repairman worry about it. If he can't fix it, he has the authority to condemn it and you'll get a new one. Anyway, this is one problem you should not have to worry about.

Don't try to bend anything! The latch mechanism in the door is probably broken. Open the door and remove the 11 torx screws holding the inner panel on. You will probably find broken plastic bits on the pathetically flimsy latch; mine failed after 4 years and I expect it to happen again.

Reassemble the door and latch with the screws.

From what you have described your Frigidaire dishwasher, FDB510CFS0, will start operating. This could be a possible issue with your control panel or door latch. If you door is not latching properly then it is not sending the appropriate signals to your control panel. This could cause an error code to populate. I would recommend performing a reset on your dishwasher and you can do that by disconnecting power from it for roughly ten minutes. Hopefully this is helpful to some degree. -Matt
