Standard Memory 256 (256MB x1 Removable) Maximum Memory 1 GB The standard memory of your system is 256 Mbytes and the maximum memory it supports is 1 Gbytes.
So you can either upgrade the RAM by adding 1 stick of 256 Mbytes (for a total of 512 MB) or buy two sticks of 512 Mbytes each (for a total and maximum memory of 1 Gbytes).
You are looking for PC2700 DDR Memory.
In any case, check the memory you have installed.
You can download a free utility like CPUZ that will give your information about your system, including the number of memory slots available and used and the memory (amount and type) installed: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz/cpuz_152_setup.exe

Need to know how to install additional ram

There is a little door under the laptop, with a couple screws.
If you open it, you will see the ram modules.

They are easy to remove and replace with additional (if empty slot available) or upgraded ram.

My presario 700 has a memory of 240mb, not quite sure, but can it be upgraded? up to what maximum ram?

hi,

yup your memory can still be upgraded up to its maximum supported RAM of 384 mb with a RAM technology SDRAM

note:
upgrading your RAM to that size doen't make major difference to its performance and you can't hardly notice it difference.

I'm having problems upgrading the RAM in my Packard Bell Easy Note Argo C. I bought 2G of the exact same RAM that is already inside but it's not working. What shall I do?

Victoria,
It is not that you can add any amount pf RAM to ant PC/laptop. Each motherboard has the TAM quantity fixed and you cant exceed it. It may be less than that quantity or equal but not more. So must be the case with you.

Is it easy to upgrade my own emachine so it will be faster and have a larger drive?

1st open the pc case and write the motherboard model.
then go to the motherboard company website, and check for the latest firware for your board, then check for spec for your board, memory, an so on... (Note the windows xp has limited hd size. and choose a 10000rpm hd disk and 16M buffer with a top graphic card for your board, and update the cpu), and your computer is tunned.

Install memory upgrade

you need to find out what type of ram,and amount your motherboard takes (sd,ddr,ddr2,sod) and how many ram slots it has, the user manual of the mobo will tell you this information.if you dont have the manual search the net for it.
it is very easy physically on a desktop, you just push them in the slot ,taking note of the notches on the ram sticks, ensuring they lock down correctly,
note if you are using ddr2 you need to install in pairs to obtain the full speed of the ram, things can be a little more tricky on laptops as some are easy to get at, and others you need to remove the cover of the entire laptop.

good luck

UPGRADATION OF RAM

Dear Sanjaykpaul.

This has to be checked with existing ram in your note book, The same type may be added to make it 512 MB or can be replaced with a new with Higher capacity. The speed should match with existing Ram Chip Module.

Best Regards
