Maybe there is a bad connection in the cable that goes from the playstation to the TV. Try wiggling the cable and change positions. Is this the only problem? There is just no picture? Or is there a red light after a while?
-Turn off the ps, unplug everything, let it sit for 30 seconds, plug all the cables back in, and turn it on.
-Try resetting the ps: hold the power button in for 15 seconds
I wouldn't recommend that you take it apart and start juggling with the stuff inside the cabinet. I think you should leave that to the guys who knows what they are doing :) See if you can borrow some cables from someone else.. Or try your cables on someone elses playstation and TV. It's not the cooling. If the problem was the cooling, it would most likely start up with sound and a picture, but shut down after a while due to overheating. Do you use stock cables or HDMI cable? It could be something wrong with the port on HDMI port on the playstation, and that is only fixed by sending it in to Sony. So my best advice is to send it to Sony and let them deal with the problem. I don't think there is anything you could do with it by yourself. I have seen others having this problem as well, and they fixed it at Sony.

Turn your ps3 off, wait a minute then turn it back on but keep holding the power button down until u hear the beeps, then it should restore your display settings.

weve tried the holding down of the button.The only colors that show are blue and green when on. It doesnt show a picture when turned on.
the day the ps3 was downed the sony entertainment screen popped up but the profiles never showed up. when that happened we kept on reseting it but sometimes there would be no picture but, the sony entertainment would show again (only sometimes). but now nothng is happening. and there's no red light after a little while.
got any thing else for me its not working... perhaps a way to take it aprt or... where to cool it down?
