If the TV cost to much to repair, would you be willing to sell it for parts? My front glass screen has got a chip in it. Cant see paying 500 just to have a new one installed.
Thanks

To my opinion, if it costs like $997.45 to get a new panel, I 'd rather buy a new TV.
The Brand new Plasma TV panasonic 42 TH-42PX77U only cost $1,200.00 at the Fry electronic store.

So, you should reconsider your decision on the back panel...

The fact that the television fell means that the warranty is voided. That is considered physical damage. If you did not mount it, try contacting whoever did and see what options you have, if any.

You broke the panel, that is not covered by warranty a panel replacement would cost you the same or more than the cost of the set.

Panel replacement requires a tech to replace because purchasing panels even out of warranty requires authorization, there is no place that sells used or "spare" panels. cost of this panel is $997.45 plus shipping (truck frieght). panels should not be replaced in home and must be replaced in shop. these panels are fragile and can not be flexed (requires 2 people for replacement). shop labor prices vary from $200.00 to $300.00 depending on the shop.

I turn the tv on and there is a constant buzzing sound what is it?

Hello
If the picture is correct in all resepect, and only a buzzing sound only comes from its inside circuit, it will be due to a loose core fittings, on any one or two ferrite cored transformers inside the power supply sytem. There are transformeres of small and large types, both in power supply and other boards. We have to find out which transformer makes this buzz sound during working. For this, you have to open your TV, and power it ON, and listen the the sound carefully, and detect the transformer which makes this noise. After finding the exact one, this loose core contact can be fixed with the help of Super Glue or similar fast acting adhesive. Just put three or four drops of adhesive in between the core will rectify your problem.
If there is no picture at all and a buzzing sound like this is heard from your TV, the inside circuit has some short in it and has to be detected and rectified. OK>

Set was on and made a loud pop noise and the picture went off. the red light was flashing and no picture. then it made a strange buzzing type of sound a few times. turned off for a couple mins and then...

It sounds like your screen inverter has just gone >bang< unfortunately.
Most screens inside use 2 main circuit boards, and you are most likely going to have to change one of them.
It's possible also for it to have been just the backlight bulb making the loud pop noise too. The inverter may have given out too much power and blown the bulb (a lot like you hear when a house bulb goes bang).

If you can't actually hear any TV sounds (normal sounds like music, voices etc. when they should be there), then it means the problem is more serious, and would need a specialist repair place to check out the electrical circuit inside.

In this case there are two possibilities of what part is the one causing the issue, it coul be a ballast because of the clicking sound that caused the tv to shut off, and that buzzin sound is for your color wheel that it might not be working anymore, discountdashmerchantdotcom free troubleshoot

The plasma panel in most cases exceeds the cost of replacing the TV. There is also the issue that they tend to use different versions and makes of panels in these sets. Some panels are made by Samsung and some are made by LG. I would start shopping for a replacement TV at this point.

i posted this exact same problem and some wiz said that i broke the panel. now the warranty is voided and the only way to fix it is to purchase another panel which could cost the same if not more than the original, so your probably better off buying a new hdtv than trying to fix this one.

Sounds like a power supply, could be a large capacitor or a large transformer making the noise
