This is actually a known problem within the wine cooler manufacturing industry. The thermostat has a bad connection, most likely caused by corrosion due to a manufacturing defect. The wine cooler is reading the temperature incorrectly so it thinks it's too warm inside the cabinet and thus continues to try to cool. Although your temperature might read 66°, if you touch the wine bottles they will feel much colder than 66°. It's a simple change of the thermostat and should be covered by your warranty. However, you need to prevent it from happening again so you need to seal the connection point with a hot glue gun to keep moisture out or else it's going to happen again in another 12 months.

Still under warranty, contact the seller. The thermostat needs replacing.

It may have been continued.

usually bad power supply, if the cooling fan isn't running either. These are horribly inefficient coolers that use a lot of power to accomplish little cooling. The power supplies are quite notorious to burn up.

If your supply is 12vdc output, you might be able to replace it with a supply from radio shack. dont use a battery charger though.

At that temp I'm sorry to say sounds like the compressor is shot or all the gas has leaked out. A service call is about $100.00 to ring the door bell and then add about $500.00-600.00 for a compressor and or 300.00 if the coil is bad. It might be better to get a new box with a warranty. Best of luck!

SOURCE: Woke up one morning to frozen bottles of wine. The Digital Thermostat still said it was at 8 degrees celcius, but was much colder than that.

Most of these types of wine coolers are not brand names and parts are hard to get. If you paid under $200 for it, buy a new one.

Otherwise you will need to have it repaired by a service station or someone who can get the thermostat and or control board, which is very minimal with these coolers.
You can search for parts if you want to DIY. Search for parts using description and make and model.
Good luck.

How should wine be stored?

There are three crucial elements to consider when storing wine - temperature, humidity and light & vibrations.

Temperature - it is best to store wines between 50-57F

Humidity - try to achieve a level of 60% humidity; which helps to keep the cork moist

Light & Vibration - keep your wines away from direct light and very still so not to disturb the elements inside the bottle

Do you have any helpful hints on how to cork a bottle of wine properly?

The most important secret to corking a bottle of wine is to make sure that the corkscrew enters the cork at a straight angle. If it doesn't, it becomes easier for the cork to chip and thereby decreasing the value of your wine.
