Question about Philips Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player
Region 2 dvds
I have this model..was trying to hook it up to a directv hughes receiver. After a day of trying and many curse words I found that using this hookup works . Hook up your satellite connection to you tv as usual...Now plug rca cables(red, yellow white) into the corresponding holes on the BACK of the Directv receiver ..now plug the rca cables into the FRONT of the Magnavox player...you will only use find holes for the white and yellow(that's ok) Now hook up up the dvd player to the tv using the rca connection back of dvd/vcr player..or if your tv only has a coax connection you will need a rf modulator available at walmart etc. You will run the dvd/vcr on L2. The key is the connections to the FRONT of the dvd/vcr player..I hope this helps..:)

SOURCE: I have bought a Philips
This player can be unlocked, but I'm not 100% certain whether the unlock method works with players sold in North America, i.e locked to Region 1. These players often use different software/firmware which disables the unlock code used for players locked to other regions. Some have an additional chip which prevents them from being unlocked full-stop.
1. Power ON the main unit with no disc inside
2. Press the SETUP button (on the top of the player) to open the setup menu
3. Navigate to the PREFERENCES menu using the button below the screen
4. Press NEXT>, PREVIOUS, NEXT>, PREVIOUS, NEXT>, NEXT>, PREVIOUS
(NEXT> and PREVIOUS are on the top of the player next to the SETUP button. Don't use the menu navigation buttons below the screen for this.)
5. The current Region of the player should be displayed on the screen
6. Use the menu navigation UP/DOWN buttons (below the screen) to change the region. Region 0 is region-free.
7. Press PLAY/OK (below the screen) to confirm the region selection
The player should now be unlocked and able to play discs from all regions.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If it doesn't work the first time, switch the player off then start again at step 1 and try a couple more times. If the current region does not display after step 4, then the player can't be unlocked due to being a Region 1 version.
Please note: Unlocking a DVD player may invalidate the warranty and some DVD players have been damaged through failed attempts to unlock them. Unlocking the DVD player is attempted at your own risk.
Please try this then let me know if you need further assistance. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know the outcome for future reference. You can reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.
