Problem check list:
- Try another cable in the connection to rule out the cable
- Make sure the 1/8 plug goes in all the way
- Make sure you have it connected to proper outputs on the mixer (and that it's not a powered mixer!)
- Make sure you don't have the output volume up too loud on the mixer

It does not appear to have a crossfader
Check this link for a closer look at the mixer. You can click the "larger image" link and get a really good look at it. Unless one of the knobs are a crossfader, but I always seen sliders as a crossfader. At least you can see it better here.

I've had some progress, have tried 2 different amps and 2 different mixer now... The weird thing is, if I plug a turntable directly into the receiver, everything is great. Once I connect the record player through a mixer and then to the receiver, I can get sound, but its really bass-y and buzzy and essentially just terrible... Such a weird problem...

DO NOT DO IT. The Hz will destroy the morotr. The transofrmer only converts the voltage. You are better off buying a 220V version.

Any chance you can send an image of your system board and the graphics card. Chances are if you system board is older that it doesn't have a PCI express slot.
If this is the case you need to either upgrade your system board or exchange the graphics card for a standard PCI or AGP graphics card.
