Hi. I recently posted a question regarding being stuck at the user login screen on my PC as I had forgotten my password, yet now I do not find it? As it turns out, I took the entire CPU tower with disks in to our local computer repair / sales center, where the helpful tech cleared the password. Now back in action. : Add: I just thought - A reason may have been that I used my cell phone to log in to Fixya (different IP).
No
the reason could be that you never got an answer because of the way you asked the question, not enough details provided or simply that there was no one interested in answering
In the time I have taken to answer this , another 25 questions have been added to the list so if it is not seen in 30 minutes , it is too far past to even chase up

Try looking on the modem itself, sometimes they have their default username and password written on them.
Try combinations of "user" or "admin".
eg username: "admin" password "admin"
if these don't work and you don't know why you can't log into your modem, try resetting your modem using the reset button on it (or holding the power button for 10-20sec) and then try the above suggestion again.
If you still can't login, write back with your modem make and model number.

The power on password is stored on an EEPROM chip and removing the BIOS/CMOS battery won't help.
You need to read the EEPROM chip to get the password.

for solution to your problem (you need to construct an interface hardware and install two programs on a working computer)

Hard disk password is set from the BIOS. It is usually set in conjunction with the Power On Password. This password is stored on the EEPROM chip and is very difficult to crack - no backdoor passwords. It is used to prevent unauthorized access to the laptop and the data on the hard disk. Removing the hard disk and inserting it into another computer will not allow access to data without the HDD password.

Follow these steps to reset a password when there is only one
administrator account on the computer, or if the original administrator
account needs a password reset.
