Question about Miele 24 in. G638 Plus Free-standing Dishwasher

The G638 finished its cycle but didn't completely

My Miele G638 dishwasher finished its cycle but didn't completely drain. The Inlet/drain light flashes red and there is no obvious blockage inside the machine or at the outlet from the building. Would be grateful for any assistance.

Pump maybe on it's way out, though i doubt it, is the washing machine on the same drain out? if so you may have back wash, another could be lengh of drain hose, i had the same problem with my miele dishwasher because of the position in the kitchen i doubled up the drain hose and though it pumped out fine, with the volume of water left in the hose it came back in untill i repositioned the drain hose so it could't run back, hope this helps.

Does anyone know why a Miele diswasher will start to wash fine and then stop with the inlet/drain light flashing after a few mins? I looked at the pressure stat at the bottom of motor and when i blow in it...

hi,
you may have something rapped around the impellers of the circulation pump causing low water pressure. the unit will start and stop to try to clear the blockage. if the circulation pump is really jammed the inlet/drain light will light. it could be a faulty pressure switch but they are not common to fail.

Hope this helps

Miele G 7856 Commercial Dishwasher

Hi. The above machine stops mid cycle and drain/fill light is on, also error code F3E, have cleaned both hot and cold water inlet filters, also checked drain pump and drain line, all ok. Machine drains with no issues and fills with hot water, runs for a while then shuts down.
Any ideas?

Meile G638 I Plus dishwasher

Problem solved, the dishwasher starts its wash cycle with a drain sequence, the pan did not drain in time for the wash cycle to continue , thererfor locking it out on inlet/drain alarm. I removed the drain hose from the S trap, then the non-return valve from the filter basket, made sure the drain pump impelar was free, blew down the drain hose back into dishwasher to clear any waste in the pipe, then found a block in the S trap orifis, after clearing that, reasembled and test run on cold pre wash cycle this runs for aprox 10 min.customer was very happy.

Miele dishwasher

we have the same dishwasher with the exact same problem. I just pulled it about one or two feet out of its little cupboard thing and the error goes away and it works again, i think that it must extend the hose and free it up a little bit.

Dishwasher does not complete cycle

It could be a clogged in the drain line. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. You should remove this line and clear it form any debris in the hose or the hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again. Good luck!

Inlet/Drain light keeps flashing

Kenyanjoe, I have had the same problem with a G638 . the inlet/drain light flashed 30 sec after start up, (the machine must empty on start up, this did not happen), This caused it to lock out on alarm I removed the drain hose from the S trap, removed the non return valve from the filter, check the drain pump impellar is free, then blow down the drain hose back into the dishwasher to make sure it was not blocked then found the drain pipe on the S trap under the sink was restricted causing the machine not to empty in time for the cycle to continue causing it to lockout on inlet/drain alarm. Have a go , good luck. GUNNO

Miele G638 dishwasher.

Hi John I have the same problem, the manual says that it is because the water level is to low, this is checked by opening the door after the machine has stopped filling and before it starts to wash, the level should be 4mm above the main plastic filter ring, the level has two settings, these can be adjusted by pressing the start button and the On/Off button at the same time, release the start button and turn the control to economy 45,if the start light does not come on the level is set to normal, to increase level press the start button again and the light should come on, this will give you an increased filling time. it did no help me but it may help you. good luck

Dishwasher will not start

Check the drain pan area under the dishwasher, if it full of water it will trip a float switch and run the drain pump until the water evaporates or is removed by a shop vac.
