We have the same problem, was hit with lightning and came up E1
We had a carrier tech come out and said it was the control board cc4eqcsa and the thermostat. they want 1500.00 to fix any ideas where we can get them and do it our self? we have a carrier comfort zone II with 4 zones the tech also said that it does not recognize all 4 zones. We really would appreciate any information. Thank you
You didn't get a Carrier tech. Carrier technicians only work on commercial equipment. Residential applicaitions, installation and service of Carrier residential units are done by dealers. They are not carrier owned but get buy the product at discount get training and get to show our logo. You can't fix the boards, they have to be replaced. It sounds like you have a Gen II VVT system. You can get the part via Totaline stores or a distributor. You will need to know how to readdress the other controllers to operate correctly. Use WWW.Carrier.com.

Most commonly that is a runaway temperature error which usually means the temperature probe is bad and needs to be replaced. If you need more detailed instruction or help making this repair visit the link below: Appliance Repair Help With Live Chat
Hi Anonymous,
The lightning can cause extensive damage to the set. Sometimes the set becomes unpairable also. Please consult a local TV Tech to assess the actual damage.
if it's a thermal cutout that's mounted on the circuit board you may have to replace the whole board. I don't have the carrier error codes at hand. But a "thermal cutout" is normally found on the compressor. One advantage of the old (before digital) systems is that the controls were all separate. So you could replace a bad high pressure switch or contactor. Without having to replace a expensive circuit board that held most of the controls. Not to mention being easy to damage by power surges and lightning
F2 E1 Cancel key. Cancel key invalid. Needs surface cleaning. this is what the tech sheet says. But I am sure you did this. This type of failure looks to me that the glass control user interface needs replace. There is a 5% chance that is the control board. But very unlikely. let me know if you need help.

HI. the storm has caused an electrical surge that traveled through the home wiring system and, the Oven control received the hit in this case. it is damaged at this point, and it should be replaced asap, if possible. this code represents a major control breakdown. the board is ruined.
This could be bad.. You want to check the fuse in the power supply. If you are lucky that is all that is bad. If the lightning got thought the fuse you could have real problems. You would have to replace at least two boards, one being the power supply board and the other could be the signal board or digital board. Sometimes they unitize the signal and digital boards as one board. Lightning can do strange things. sometimes it will just take out a diode and fuse Sometimes it can trash a set making it cost prohibitive to repair.. Good luck.
