SOURCE: Pixma MP530 Fax Problems

I am having a similar problem. You do have to connect your phone to the jack in the machine in the "Phone" jack slot, as well as have another line out to the jack in the wall in the "L" slot. That is all I know. I am having problems with my voicemail. Either I can received voicemail, and no faxes, or faxes, and no voicemail (fax picks up at specified number of rings). It is EXTREMELY frustrating. The machine is *supposed* to be able to discern between phone calls and faxes..and that is not happening.

Have you come across a solution? Aghhhhh!

SOURCE: I can send faxes, but not receive them on Canon Pixma mx310

Do you have the phone you are answering with connected through the fax machine? If you have the machine set in 'tel priority' mode, the machine will not begin receiving a fax until you press 'FAX' and the 'color' or 'black' button. Alternatively, if you have your phone connected to the 'telephone' jack on the machine (next to the 'L' jack), you can press '2' and '5' on the telephone keypad to turn the machine on in fax receive mode.

SOURCE: My fax machine will send faxes but not receive them. I have made sure it is plugged in and connected but no faxes will come through. Please Help!

If you have an answering machine, have it answer at three rings. Have the fax answer at five rings. Let the answer machine go thru it's cycle, and see if the fax picks up.

SOURCE: Able to send faxes but unable to receive.

you need to check how the fax machine is setup for receiving faxes. i recommend you try it first without the answering machine, to see if it works. if it doesnt, then it has to do with the auto answer or the number of rings not set right, if it does work, it could be that you need to set it to check for fax while the answering machine is answering, check the manual under answering faxes.
thanks adi

Canon mx922 when faxing erro tx report comes back result ng

Since you do not have a dial tone, please ensure that the line coming from your telephone source is plugged into the LINE jack on the unit. If you are connecting a telephone or answering machine to the unit as well, you will want to plug them into to the EXT jack on the unit. Please ensure that the unit is turned off when connecting the telephone line and telephone/answering machine to the unit. More information on connecting the lines and devices to your computer can be found
Once these items have been verified, if you still are unable to hear a dial tone when you press the HOOK button on the unit or are unable to send a fax, please call or email us using one of the methods on the page for further assistance.

HI, I CAN SEND MY FAX TO THE OPPSIT PARTY BUT I DONT RECEIVE ANY FAX, WHEN THE PARTY SEND ME, AS THE PARTY GET THE REPORT AS WE HAVE RECEIVED THE FAX,,,,,,

Please be sure that you have the fax line in the correct jack on the back. Some of the HP modems will actually send a fax if you plug the telephone cord from the wall into jack that is supposed to have a telephonep plugged into it. On the back of the 1522 there are two phone jacks, the upper one is where the cord from the wall plugs in. Also ensure that if you have DSL service that you have a filter in the line for the modem.

We cannot dial out when sending a fax. You can hear the line open but no dialing tone. Any ideas?

  1. Make sure that you have plugged the phone cord directly and securely into the wall jack and into the back port of the fax product. The fax port on your product is marked "Line," "To Wall Jack," or with a wall jack symbol.
  2. Make sure the Line Interface Unit (box that the phone cord plugs into) is fully seated into the back of the fax product.
  3. Remove any other devices from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines.
  4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
  5. Try using a different telephone cord.
  6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
  7. Turn Error Correction Mode (ECM) off, if you encounter the same error repeatedly.

Error codes 283 and 232 in received Faxes

basically error 232 indicates that a communication failure has occurred between the two machines
Following these steps may help resolving your issue

1. Make sure that the phone cord is plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a wall-jack symbol.
2. Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax.
3. Remove any other device from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines, and retry the fax communication.
4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
5.Try using a different telephone cord.
6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
7. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.

Hope this helps.

Cannot send or receive faxes.

Try a phone hand set on the wall jack to make sure you can get a dial tone and the line is alive.
Then plug the fax phone line into that wall jack. Make sure the phone line is also in the right port on the back of the Officejet printer, where it most likely says LINE -IN and NOT where it shows an image of a phone set.

I can't receive and send fax

The splitter the technician is referring to goes on the wall jack. One should have come with the "modem" installation package.
Take a regular telephone cord and plug one end into the splitter and the other into the line jack on the Fax/printer.
When your done you should have two phone cords connected to the splitter - one going to the "modem" and the other to the printer.
