Amana LGA30AL Gas Dryer heats up at first but won't dry cloths.

I have a Amana LGA30AL Gas Dryer that heats up at first then when the flame goes out will not reignite and runs cold until you turn it off. I have cleaned all lint from inside machine and exhaust vent pipe. Also replaced limit thermostat and the cycling thermostat but the problem still remains. Any suggestions on what to check and how to test it?

Heats but wont stay heated

If the flame come on to start with, but then goes out and won't come back on I would suspect you have a bad coil on the gas valve.
If you see the flame cycle on and off, but the flame does come back on again this is normal. The flame needs to cycle on and off and not be on steady or the dryer would get to hot.
If the flame is cycling ok and the cloths just don't get dry then you need to check your dryer and vent for lint build up.

I have a model LGA30AL gas dryer. It will start up occasionally but will only stay lit for a short time. I have already replaced the Igniter. And found a small leak in gas line. I replaced that also. What...

The gas assembly consists of: The ignitor, the flame sensor, and the solenoid coils. The ignitor and flame sensor are either going to be good or bad no in between. The only thin in there that can get intermittent is them solenoids. They get hot and quit but after a long while they cool back down and work another time. themobilian_2450.jpg

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Dryer is not heating enough to dry the clothes. It is 9 years old, is it better to just invest in a new dryer?

After 9 years you are going to need to replace some parts. If the ignitor works and the flame sensor is shutting down the gas but the flame stops after a while or not at all then them cols need to be replaced. themobilian_2331.jpgthemobilian_2332.jpgthemobilian_2333.jpg

You might want to replace the thermacouplar. Sometimes when they are going out , all will appear to be alright but as you stated it takes a long time for the flame to come back on. This sounds to me like the thermacouplar is going out.

Amana LGA30AL Dryer - does not dry cloths completely in the same amount of time it used to take. Vent system is clear, flame comes on within seconds of igniter glow but doesn't appear to stay on very long....

most times this is due to a lint backup some where in the shaft leading out of the house.ecpecialy ifit vents out verticaly.you can use a compressor with a blowgun in most cases to solve this.

Dryer heating problem

It sounds like an air flow issue. There is a flame sensor on the side of the flame housing. If the venting is not sucking the flame down the tube it will cycle very quickly and never reach the right temp.
