I realized the labels have to be fed very close to the bottom of the inside of the printer. One has to make sure they go below the black roller. The front of the printer can be removed and one can see if the labels are fed properly or not, as well one can check for remainders of labels if there was a jam

Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

There are a few common reasons this is problem can exist.
1.) the incorrect template is used when creating the label
2.) the labels are installed incorrectly - the labels must be loaded and pushed against the left side of the printer and lid closed when printing to ensure the labels don't "wander" out of the sensor's view.
3.) the label sensor is covered by some debris - sometimes a label jam can cause a piece of label to become stuck on the underside of the sensor thus blocking its view.
4.) The labels are defective - if you have another roll of the same size, try it to see if it has the samme issue.
