SOURCE: Screen seems to dim and there is flickering while watching

This is both a common and fairly easy repair in this unit. Remove the back, but not all of the back needs to be removed to access the power supply area and locate the power supply board. You might find that all three E919,E920,E921 of the 35v/680uf caps in the upper left of the PS board are bowed and/or vented. Replace all three of them even if they test good...
Next, esr the remaining caps. Last one we did here in the shop there were 16 total that we replaced, many were orange in color but I don't have any notes on their value. The orange color of the cap is a lesser temp range we used 105 degree or better as replacements. Some we used a higher rated cap (higher voltage) same uf rating. Gave it a greater reliability.
Good Luck!
Bill

SOURCE: sanyo lcd tv flat

I have researched this problem and it is so common we that own this piece of junk ought to form a class action suit and sue. It is caused by a bad part or bad connections to a part called a backlight inverter. It seems the LCD needs a higher voltage than supplied by the 12vdc power pack so this part re-chops the DC voltage to generate the LCD requirement.

The date of manufacture is on the back of these TVs and all the problems seem to be from those made in 2006 to 2008

Samsung led smart tv 55" screen has all the sudden went really dark with sound. Backlights?

You have a bunch of burned out LED buttons in the LED strips that light the panel, new strips will fix the issue. You didn't give the model so I can't help with part numbers but go to shopjimmy.com and put the number in there in search and you will find the parts, they generally run around $75 for a 55" set with shipping plus your local sales tax. Watch several youtube vids on changing them, it's a time consuming job but not hard to do just handle the panel with extreme care as it can be damaged then the set is junk. Once you get it fixed do a software update to extend the life of the new strips.

My LED tv screen is dimmed on the right 1/3. After some use it eventually goes totally black?

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

Some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

ViewSonic VA1926w monitor dims darker when there's dark content on the screen. I have 2 of these monitor connected to a Pro Mac. Only the right side monitor does this.

Its the dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) that dims the display when dark images are displayed.
For my VA1926w, pressing the right most button (up arrow), enables or disables DCR. Keep this disabled.

Vizio vo37l backlight rapidly flickers when dynamic contrast tries to dim the display

I agree that the problem is most likely on the inverter board. I repaired a Vizio 42" LCD with the same problem, it was bad capacitors on both inverters. Cost $2 to repair. Take off the back cover to the set and check the capacitors on both boards. If they have bulging tops, that's your problem.

Screen is too dark

with a flashlight at the back of the set often times there is an adjustment you can make WITHOUT having to open the set!!!

look for a little hole in the back of the plastic cabinet labeled SCREEN then with a flat screwdriver holding only the plastic handle, insert it into the hole and SLOWLY rotate until the screen brightens up until it is watchable.

This is compensating for age in the picture tube. you may get a few day or a few more years! of a much better picture.

If you start seeing some thin lines on the screen then back off you have gone too far. Do this adjustment with the brightness and contrast controls on the menu turned up all the way.

it is also safe to play with the focus adjustment right next to the screen if thing seem a little blurry. you will need two people one to watch from a distance for best picture.
