SOURCE: need a wiring diagram for 6 way starter switch

You needn't worry about a six way Kill Button... I used one myself to replace the OEM one. Buy yourself a cheap electrical multimeter for around $12 and test the switch for continuity (the meter set to Ohms or Resistance) with the switch in different positions using the different poles without installing it. You will then know which position is RUN (I) when the meter responds.... turn the switch in the other direction and it should have an OPEN (O); i.e., the meter doesn't move, which indicates the engine Kill Switch by grounding the spark from the magneto or reluctor coil. A multimeter is a cheap tool to have in your arsenal around the home and shop.

I have a xp10000e duromax generator.

Hi. If the ignition switch and the wiring from the ignition switch to the starter are good. Then I would look at the starter solenoid. The solenoid is normally open and only closes when the ignition switch is turned to the start position. Remove the "Trigger" wire from the starter, reattach the battery cables and use a test light to confirm. Good luck.

Is it is an emergency any starter solenoid from a older Ford should work as a starter solenoid just a push button switch to actuate the electromagnet on the solenoid or tap the solenoid wire to positive on battery

Why onan 7500 HDKAJ rv generator will not turn over.

If the start battery is definitely good then why is the starter not getting energized? Ignition switch? Low oil switch, on/off switch? Safety switch?
There is something that you are overlooking. Bet that if you take a wire and hook up one end to the + terminal on battery and the other end to the plus wire on the starter it will crank!!!!!!!!

How to flash a generator

Get two short extension cords and cut the FEMALE end off each one. Strip back the insulation on that end. Connect the two green wires to each other, and connect the two white wires to each other.

Connect one black wire to a light switch, and connect the other black wire to a 20W appliance-type incandescent light bulb. Also run one short black wire (from a cut-off end) from the second terminal on the light bulb to the second terminal on the switch, like so:

plug -- black -- switch -- black -- bulb -- black -- plug
plug -- white ----------------------------------- white -- plug
plug -- green ---------------------------------- green -- plug

Turn the switch to the OFF position.
Start the generator. Plug one plug from your new rig into an outlet on the generator. Plug the other plug from your new rig into a wall outlet supplying 120V. With the generator running, turn the switch to the ON position.

The bulb should flash for a short while, then become steady. When it's steady, that side of the generator is flashed. Repeat for the other side of the generator if it makes 240V.

Im about to install a kubota GL 6500S deisel generator in a house and i have the diagram to wire it up. but i need to know what all i need to do the job as far as materials?

Materials?
1. Transfer switch
2. 10/3 and ground Romex to connect main panel to transfer switch.
3. Screws to mount the transfer switch.
4. Plastic Wire U clips for the Romex.
5. Plug adapter to connect transfer switch to the Generator. (should come with transfer switch)
6. Your probably going to need a drill, extension wire and a 1 inch wood bit to route the wiring. (you can route 10/3 with a 5/8 inch hole but it will be fussy.
7. Do not forget the permit! If your not permitted correctly and you have an electrical fire your insurance company can refuse the claim. (Usually the permit is issued to a qualified electrician)
8. Do not wire the whole house from generator power.
9. A word to the wise.... give refrigerators, freezers and Air-conditioners a 10 - 15 minute break before powering them up after a power loss. They will just cycle the thermal overload due to the high side pressure being to high. Let them cool off and equalize before restarting them.
and the compressors will not start.
10. You will have to install a cover and grommet over the transfer switch wires where they pass through the wall from the Generator power feed.
11. Sealant if needed.

That is about all I can think of for now.

Thanks for using FixYa.

RV Onan Emerald 1 Generator

Check all the ground wires and make sure their not broken or loose. If the wires are good next check the neg. Wire to the coil. Too check the swiitch make sure you have continuity too all the post when the switch in the on position, this requires removing the switch.

Starter switch burning out after it has been started? Also need to confirm where the ground should be hooked up too?

What I would do is isolate the starter from the switch and see if the starter turns without heating up any wires. If this works, then you have a loose connection going to the swich. Trace out the wires to the switch. As far as the ground, I would place it on the engine block or genset, where ever you can find a bolt.
