SOURCE: Weather Protection

This tent is properly protected from the rain, i used it and it was just fine, not a drop of rain came in.

Of course there was a bit of a condensation, but i haven't met a tent that didn't suffer from this problem when it rains.

Go to Home depot and buy a tube that fit the pole. Cut it into 5 or 6 inches for the broken areas. It costs me less than 2 dollars. Let me know how it turn out on yours.

Alps Chaos 3 person tent setup

Just when you are looking for simple instructions, I come along. 1st I cannot locate instructions and don't believe the tent is still made. 2nd, the Alps Chaos 3 person tent setup is a uTube clip that may suffice. 3rd, there are various tips here that suggest the best setup for this tent. 4th and lastly, the zippers seem to be subject to leaking plus it is probably a good idea to have some sealant handy to reseal seams probably as a preventative. It is better to know now rather than be caught in a storm.

I'm in need of purchasing a replacement rain fly for my tent, where can I do this?

any out door / sports retailer should be able to help you with this
To make the tent water proof --erect it on a sunny day and spray silicone fluid all over it ( wet it) and then let it dry
that seals off the fabric weave and makes the water run off rather than through
it also helps prevent rot and mildew when the tent is packed up damp. It is not cheap but effective and when combined with a fly cover also s wet with the fluid will make wet days in a tent more bearable

If I buy a field n forest dome tent, do I need to seam seal it?

ALL tents need to be seam sealed periodically. It is a good idea to do it with a new tent, but usually not required the first few times out. I also spray the fly with a new DWR coating as tents get older, and have sometimes re-waterproofed them elsewhere.

This is an old thread, but the best google result. Found these inside the tent - after I spent ages looking for them online.

I have borrowed a 2002 REI Clipper tent that has been in storage.I just set it up and the tent floor and inside of the rain fly are sticky. How do you recommend I clean them? It is sticky throughout, not...

It sounds like something soaked in, either a rain shield product that wasn't allowed to dry before putting the tent away or a leak during storage. Tents can be cleaned with mild cleansers, but it's best to try just plain warm water first, as cleansers can leave residue behind that will impact the rain resistance of the fabric and attract more dirt. If you do have to use a cleanser, rinse the tent well afterward! Make sure the tent dries fully (including the seams) before putting it away again. Here are more detailed instructions:

How do I maintain it?

Here's what I'd do:
Always use a ground cloth before putting the tent up.
Buy seam sealer, and recoat all of the seams.
Scotchgard by 3M will make the tent and fly more water repellent. Don't be stingy with the application.
Dry the tent if wet before storage to prevent the formation of mold and mildew. It isn't always practical to do this while moving your campsite, but do it as soon thereafter as practical.
Brush all debris out of and off of the tent before stowing. Clean off any stains and stubborn dirt with a mild detergent and water, flush well and dry before stowing.
Lubricate all zippers with wax.
Pack in extra tent pegs and cord. You never know when you'll want more strength.
OK, Does this stuff work? Yeppers! I have a Eureka! dome tent that I have used for 20 years, and it looks pretty close to brand new!
Best regards, from one happy camper to another!

No Instructions

Peg out the "brown" ground sheet of the inner tent and hold it up like a standard ridge tent.
Put the two shorter upright poles on the inside of the compartment (with something under the feet to prevent damage to the ground sheet). Put the 40mm tubes on the spike that pokes through, and then put the ridge pole on the outside.
Everything should then hold in place while you put the fly sheet over the top with the 2 longer poles at the front.......

tip - line up the seam on the fly sheet with the front of the inner tent as you peg it out....
Good luck
