Why is my Dell W3706MC TV hard to turn on?

SOURCE: tv won't power on, stand-by light blinks 6 times continously

just unplug tv 5 minutes. and plug it again. power on again. if not reset tv.

blown caps in the power supply a 470m at 16 volt cap it will be puffed up

No sound, picture perfect. w3706mc. works first 6 months

Hook an external Stereo Receiver (or surround sound system) up to the Audio Out jacks on the back of the TV... this should allow you to hear the sound again.

your mainboard needs replaced from within you engine component located in the rear part of the unit. its the boad with the most inputs. google the board id and see if u can find a replacement.

Digital tuner frozen will not scan

While the TV is turned on, perform the following steps to hard reset the TV:
  1. Press and hold the Input Source button.
  2. Press and release the Power button.
    The TV turns off.
  3. Press and release the Power button.
    The TV turns on.
  4. Wait 10 seconds.
    A message appears saying the TV has been reset.
  5. Release the Input Source button.

Just out of warranty Dell TV W3706MC,two years old

Sounds like a bad video board. No easy way to fix a bad video board. It needs to be replaced. That is why the repair shops will not fix it; they do not stock video boards for all models. And it is a pain to track one down all of a sudden. Once a warranty is up, you are running on bonus time. Electrical components have a definite lifespan. It is possible to recover some money by selling it "as-is" online somewhere. You could get 200-400 for it broken, pretty easy I suppose.
