Hi. With regard to the printer above, I have bought a new magenta ink cartridge and the printer still will not recognize the pink and print. Anything I can do to fix that or do I just need to bite the bullet and buy a new printer?

Re: Printer won't print magenta
So what does the machine do: Not recognizing the cart (error: insert magenta) or does it not print onto the paper?
In 1# case: Reinsert the magenta cart and make sure that the support is secured above the cart top. If it is recognized: OK.
If not unplug mfc from power. take all carts out. Wait five minutes. Reconnect machine to power. wait until machine demands carts. reinsert cart as demanded and give the right answers (see display). Machine should run a short cleaning cycle.
In 2# case: Insert full carts well. press menu then start mono (blue) then fourtimes arrow-up (te-index). machine will be in maintenance mode. press 7 then 6 then 4. machine will initialize the carts. after some cleaning cycles machine will be in mentaenance mode again. Press 9 then 9 to leave mode. press ink etc. to run a test print. If it fails and you cant see any magenta, the valve or filter is clogged and cant be fixed anymore.

Are you sure its exclamation mark?.. This warning message related to print head. (warn out). When you are replacing ink tube assembly use dummy print heads to do the priming (new ink tubes are empty & they have to fill with ink).. Action: Remove all cartridges and print heads, switch on the printer follow the screen message.(Insert cartridges first next dummy print heads).once its recognizes cartridges then it switch over to print heads, insert dummy print heads. Once printer recognized the dummy print heads, printer will perform priming, during priming dummy print heads will filled with respective inks.(follow the display message)Remove dummy print heads & insert normal print heads. Wait till printer recognizes print heads, load the paper & wait till performs the calibration, once calibration is successfully done issue closed. If calibration not successfully done, check align print out for which print head is not printed properly, replace it.. Pl ensure that minimum 50% ink levels required in cartridges before performing the priming. Best of luck..
It sounds as though you have a break in the carriage ribbon cable. A new carriage would hopefully cure it but its just possible the logic board has failed and is not sending any signal to the magenta ink tank. Its certainly repairable but you would need to know the costs and the labour charge to see if its worthwhile.
Some ink printer had ink resetter and just go to ink set up.
If your printer have ink resetter, do it otherwise it will not recognized new ink installed.
If not, some new ink cartridge when the tape is remove, there are cases that the sticky leaf on the ink cartridge, just rinse it with warm water or alcohol to detect the ink cartridge. Turn off your printer and your computer. Then return the ink and open your printer and computer to print again.
Note : Use only ink that is compatible with your printer because it you use other cartridge it will damage the chip set of your printer and it will not recognized any cartridge at all. SO beware.
You can remove magenta & double check that some tape was not left behind on the contacts. Take a clean ragg & dampen it with alcohol. Clean the ink cartridge's (copper contacts & inside the the ink carrige). Re-install the magenta, (tight fit). Power off the printer. Wait a few seconds & power it back up. If it fails a second time with no other errors. Like the above. Than the magenta may be defective. Have a recipt? Return it for a replacment.
Hi, it sounds that the issue can be caused by a defective ink cartridge that installed or a printhead that can recognize magenta ink cartridge. To identify which causes this issue please try the following:
1. Reseat ink cartridge
2. Replace ink cartridge with a specified ink cartridge for your printer.
3. If above steps wont resolved that issue, please call your printer manufacture and ask for service referral or process warranty options.
