Question about Norelco Health & Beauty
Can I buy a replacement charger for my Norelco Silhouette razor?
SOURCE: replacing batteries in a 6705x norelco shaver
Hi,
To open up your shaver, remove the lotion cover and remove all 5 screws
with a small flat head screwdriver. They have a star head, but also a
flat notch. Since they shaver is water tight, the first time you open
it up it will be difficult, but if you pry off with your screwdriver it
should pop off.
Towards the head of the shaver the batteries are soldered to the
circuit board. Pull the tail end of the batteries out of the plastic
holder and cut them at the top end as close to the batteries as you
can, or CAREFULLY bend it back and forth to snap the metal. Dispose of
the batteries responsibly as you would any batteries.
Hope it helps you.

Same thing happened to my father's shaver. After working on it for about 30 mins, this is how I fixed it. You need to start with the top silver piece/cover. Turn it over so you see inside of it. Drop the 3 screens into the holes upside down (so they face out). You need to rotate the screens until they sit as low as possible. Now drop in the 3 blades, again sharp side down. There should be a triangular piece with 3 circles attached to it. One side is gray, and the other side has a black triangular piece. If you look closely each leg of the black piece has a tiny picture of a lock and an arrow. Rotate the black piece in the opposite direction of the arrow. Place the gray side down lining it up with the three blades. Now rotate the black piece, it will lock into position, and hold the blades in place! Finally, the silver head has a little hinge on one side. This hinge is flexiable. Bend it to a 90 degree angle, and slip it into the notch on the top part of the main body of the shaver. Close the head part, in my father's shaver I had to press a lever in the front to snap it into place.
Hope this helps!

You should always use the same type batteries that your shaver was designed to be used with. Your shaver was designed for use with NiCd batteries. If you have use NiMH batteries this may be causing the problem you described.
However, I would say that it is more likely that you have some sloppy solder that is bridging something that is not supposed to touch. You should check the battery solder joints on the circuit board and clean up any sloppy solder work that may be there.

HQ5 is not compatible with HQ55. I've checked the Service Manual and HQ5 is the correct part. It's got to do with the driving mechanism for the head.
