Canon error E197 0000 is a printer engine communication error.
check for firm connections on the DC controller PCB and image processor PCB. If fails to help try replacing the two printed circuit boards mentioned above in that order.

somehow this is because Win 7 actually does not support all devices. try installing the device using win xp or vista, if it does work then it really has no support for win 7

if you replace the ink cartage then
your printer is unpluged from your computer or laptop.if the plug is pluged in to the computer then umplug it and plug it in some place else. if that does not work then un plug the printer and then plug it back in and turn it on. if not you will have to go and look it up on how to reset your printer like new. so it will clear the code but that is the code for computer is unpluged from the printer
