SOURCE: Screen goes black, still have audio

I first changed the 220uf capacitor with no luck. I flipped the BURN switch to on and the set has been working great for a week now. Daughter left it on for about 20 hours overnight with no problem. Anybody have an idea what those 4 tiny switches are for? I have heard these type of switches called "dip switches". They are tiny white switches in a yellow block on the lower left side of the upper circuit board. The top one was labled 40", the next one down was labled 46", the 3rd one was 4 letters "EW" something I think, and then the bottom one was labled "BURN".

SOURCE: TV turns on ,VIZIO emblem lights up,then the VIZIO

Hi

It sounds like bad power supply capacitors. Take it apart and take a look and replace them. Also try this:- unplug the TV from the wall and hold down the power button for a minute and then plug the TV back in outlet and turn on.If the power is good, I suspect the issue might actually lie in the mainboard.
You can check this. If you have a multimeter you can check between ground (any metal of the case) and one of the wires coming from the power supply is supplying 5VDC standby. If it is and the indicator light isn't on, the mainboard is likely at fault.
If there is no 5VDC standby voltage being supplied from the power supply, the fault is in the supply.
Maybe the mainboard has a short that is killing the power supply or the inverters. You have to buy a replacement.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept this "particular" solution.

SOURCE: I have a Vizio VP503 HDTV. The screen goes black but the audio continues. I turn it off wait a few minutes and it is good for another 30-40 minutes before it repeats. suggestions?

When metals heat ,they expand and in the process form what we call dj's (dry joints). Check cold cathode fluorescent lamp inverter board for dry joints, resolder if there are any and you will have your problem fixed. But if you have sound with backlight but no picture, then something is wrong on your data display channel card. which might require you to replace the whole board

Vizio D65u-d2 Backlight not working after replacing 2 LED strips?

You should be able to replace just the bad LED strips however with as much work as it is to get the set apart and back together I always replace all them as other strips generally fail in time. Did they all light up after you replaced the bad ones before you put it back together? This model set has local dimming so servicing it is a bit more complex, you could have a bad backlight driver but that board seldom gives issues, also you could have main or power board issues as power for the backlight driver comes from the power board or you could have main issues as it's the signal from there that turns on each strip.

I have a vizio d65u-d2 i turn it on and after 5 minutes the screen goes black it still has sound though any ideas as to qhat it could be?

Let us know what exact model this is. It is possible that this is caused by a bad power board which then causes your backlight to turn off, but can also be a T-con or main board issue. Let us know if only your picture turns off or if you lose sound as well and if the picture comes back on. You do want to try to reset your TV. Unplug it and push and hold the power button for about 30sec-1min then plug it in while holding the power button depressed. If that does not help, remove the back of your set and post some good images of your boards with your question. That way we can see what you see and could try to assist you further.
