My Kenmore electric dryer model 417.80412700 wont heat up but the element is still good. What else could be wrong?

Some dryers have a hi limit safety switch that is a one time fuse type switch . If the dryer gets too hot this switch opens and prevents the heating element from operating it is usually about 1/2" wide x 2" long plastic part with two wires attached to it.
You can test this part with a continuity tester. Unplug dryer, remove wires and test for continuity between the terminals. No continuity means the part needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps.

Kenmore dryer 70 series

Check the vent for clogs and kinks. Could be something in the blower wheel causing the noise and blocking the vent.
Remove the vent from the back of the dryer, unplug the dryer, and reach inside the dryer vent to check for items lodged in the blower housing.

Dryer will not start but timer ticking

If the start button is an "ON - OFF" button (meaning, you can turn the dryer off manually instead of resetting timer in order to switch it off), try turning the dryer ON...then switch it back to "OFF".
Hopefully the dryer will continue, and the thermostat will kick in.

Timer ticking and heating element activating when dryer is off

One thing to check is if the heater is shorted to frame.Remove the wires and do the checking. If that is fine then the only way the heat can come on at all is IF the motor is running. So check between terminals one and 2 for continuity with the motor NOT running. If you get a reading then your motors cent switch is stuck. You can sometimes oil the springloaded sliding switch but most times the springs have broke on it.

My 400 series Kenmore dryer's timer is not working

if the timer will not advance through the cycles and the dryer is getting hot try the timed setting not the sensed setting and if the problem continues on the sensed side only it is not the timer it is the sensor , the sensor is what senses the temperature inside the dryer that is what advances the timer on the sensed side it could be that the timer could be good and the sensor be bad try that

Kenmore dryer

Do you hear the timer ticking?
Make sure there is 220 volts present at the terminal where the cord hooks to the dryer.
Inspect the wires for loose or burned.
Check continuity on the door switch.
Check continuity on the start switch.
