Since the problem was with the plug on the electric cord, I replaced the plug, I cut the old plug, peel off the plastic cover on the cord, they were two wires, black & white, I purchased a new plug in a Home center, attach the wires to the new plug and it works just beautiful now, it was a two prong plug, which made it easier to fix.

    I would double-check the seating of the bag. Some machines have a lockout switch that keeps you from running the vac with a bag incorrectly installed (which would then suck dirt into the motor).

    Sounds like a break in cord or plug somewhere. I am not familiar with the particular vacuum myself. Another thought I have when looking around your vacuum cleaner have you seen a red reset button anywhere at all?

    Or by chance does your vacuum cleaner have a plug comes off....... (i.e. like a computer)

    Burnt rubber smell when vacuuming

    This could be a few things:

    A. If your model has a floor selector switch (Bare floor/tools - Carpet) your clutch could be worn. (there is a rubber clutch pad between your cam and roller shell) - Fix would be to replace the clutch pad and belt.

    B. If you don't have one of the above models, your belt could be stretched. The belt slipping could cause a rubber burning smell. Fix - Change belt.

    C. Have you got any new carpet you are vacuuming or have you moved? Some of the newer style frieze carpets can cause burning rubber smell. The fibers of the carpet are longer and cause the brush to slow down causing the belt to burn. (Imagine brushing long hair with a thick brush, the hair easily gets tangled in the brush, same effect with this carpet.) Some of the newer rugs can do this as well. Some newer carpets with the thicker felt backing and/or the "pet padding" under the carpet can too. it doesn't allow enough air to flow through causing the cleaner head to seal itself to the carpet causing a burning smell. The fix is Move to another home, replace your carpets or replace your vacuum. The vacuum is the cheaper option but be cautious as most vacuums now do this with these carpets. We have had really good response from customers using the Simplicity Tandem Air models, (Synchrony and Synergy models.)

    I test a motor by taking an old vacuum cleaner cord with alligator clips on the ends and hook it up to the motor simply bypassing the entire vacuum cleaner. If it runs then I know the problem is not the motor.

    I have a simplicity 6 series vacuum. the bag overfilled and vacuum will not run. No power. is there a fuse of relay inside the unit?

    no just on /off switch and direct power to vac motor sounds like its burned up from bag being overfilled , now you have to get to the vac motor test it with switch on to see if its getting power if so then motor is burnt.use an ohms meter for power test.

    My husband changed the belt on our vacuum, now the metal frame doesn't fit back on the bottom. Also, there is a small metal clip that we don't know where it belongs.
