SOURCE: JVC KD -S680 needs help
all radios like your has two power inlets one is battery and the other is Acc or Ing. The battery line keeps power in the radio after you turn off your car both lines must work for the radio to turn on it sounds like a resister burn out thats why your face plate was warm.
SOURCE: No Power or responce when turned on
This is a Common problem MOST if NOT ALL, problems like this with this type of fault it is invairably a problem with the Power Supply, in the PSU Electrolytic capacitors dry out and often cause this type of exact problem... It is a relitively simple fix, by replacing the caps with new ones... Any good shop should be able to fix for a modest fee.. OR if ya know anyone handy with a soldering iron maybe they could do it for you there are generally about 4 - 6 to replace... in the PS section, just do them all to be safe.. Generally most LCD's problems can be traced back to a bad PSU... almost 80% of the "problems" I find in my shop are indeed this.
SOURCE: I have a Kenwood KDC MP532U. The face plate will not display.
it more than likely has bad solder connections inside the radio on some surface mount resistors usually located on the right front of the radio as it faces you.
