I haven't used a flash drive before. Can you tell me how to download picture files to this flash drive? I have an emachine XP Thank you

Hi,

There are a couple of ways you could download pictures to the flash drive.

Method 1
1) Locate the pictures you wish to download to your flash drive
2) Right click on the file and select "Copy"
3) Click on "Start"
4) Click on "My Computer"
5) Double click on the flash drive. It will most likely be called "Removable Media" or "Cruzer"
6) Right Click any blank space and select "Paste"

Method 2
1) Click on "Start"
2) Click on "My Computer"
3) Double click on the flash drive. It will most likely be called "Removable Media" or "Cruzer"
4) Locate the pictures you wish to download to your flash drive
5) Click and hold on the picture you wish to download and then drag the file to the window with the flash drive in. Then release the mouse button.

Either method works, method 1 is much easier to explain in words though!

If you are already familiar with organising files, it is easiest to think of the flash drive as just another folder. Just one you can take with you!

Activation of keys on an FTAS receivers

Hi,

Your query > "Instructions on how to install new keys and activate an FTA receiver using a 2GB Cruzer Micro Flash Drive with 3 smarth technology"

Generic responses:
1. depending on your FTA receiver (brand/model/version) (BlackBird, MultiStar, UltraStar, Pansat, Digiwave, Viewsat, Coolsat, Fortec, Ariza, Twinhan... or even clones) you would need to download the appropriate firmware/satellite keys using your PC & Internet connection;
2. links to firmware/satellite keys maybe available from your FTA receiver manufacturer's website or forums such as HashHU FTA
3. in your PC, unzip the downloaded firmware/satellite keys to a temporary folder;

If you are using a stand-alone hardware FTA box:
a. plug in your 2GB Cruzer Micro Flash Drive to one of your PC's USB port;
b. copy/paste the unzipped files in the root directory of the Flash Drive. Verify that you have the .bin or .pmg of whatever your FTA box is using;
c. remove flash drive from PC's USB port and insert into the USB port of the FTA receiver;
d. on the FTA box, using your remote, go to Menu, Settings or Sytem Information, keys, firmware or receiver Upgrade, select USB, select Flash, Save, Activate or Upgrade;
e. wait until the FTA box has uploaded to itself the new firmware/satellite keys;
f. reboot (power on/off).

If you are using PC-based FTA satellite receiver:
i. run your FTA receiver program;
ii. select for Tools/Options/Upgrade or Update;
iii. browse/direct to search in your temporary folder where downloaded files were unzipped;
iv. once found, click OK/Update/Upgrade;
v. in some brand/model/version, there is an auto upgrade/update feature which will download appropriate firmware/satellite keys if you are online.

Hope that the this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

How can I locate some of my folders and one of the files that have been lost?

as long as you havnt added any information since the file was lost , you can use a program called (recuva) that will get those files back. just be sure to save them to a location other than the flash drive , like your desktop or even slave drive if you have one.

I have a SanDisk Cruzer USB 2.0 Flash Drive. I need to transfer my data from my old windows98 computer to a new Windows7 computer. However, My Windows98 computer does not recognize my SanDisk Cruzer USB...

Take a router (wired or wireless), and use Ethernet cables to connect the two computers to the router.
Configure the old computer into the same "workgroup" as the new computer (and restart it).
Right-mouse-click on the folder containing the files to be transferred.
Click to enable "sharing" of that folder.
On the new computer, browse the "Network Neighbourhood".
It may take a few minutes for the new computer to "find" the old computer (working through the router).
Access the folder that you "shared".
Copy the files, over your private network, to the new computer.

I cannot move a Microsoft Word file to a SanDisk 2 GB Cruzer,getting the message that "Directory or File cannot be created"...Why? What's the solution?

There is a problem with these where putting files directly on the root folder of the drive only allows X amount of files. Open the Cruzer from My Computer and create a new folder. Try dropping the Word file into that new folder and all should be well.

Hope this helps. Look forward to hearing back from you soon!

U3 2GB Cruzer Micro wont work on my vista laptop.

Hi there, I found the solution (for all 4GB flash drives).

Initially when I plugged in my PQi 4GB flash drive with Windows Vista,
there was an error message involving " Can not find the drivers needed ... "

Simply download & install "Windows Vista Service Pack 1"
it is about 444 MB in size.
The whole process might take about 2 hours to install,
but it is worth it.
These are the links where you can find your download:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/bb738089.aspx
OR
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=090DEAF6-2EAA-4AAA-8B3B-2E199DB4A97D&displaylang=en

It works perfectly... good luck now...
