If it's between 5-10 secs, that's normal. You will turn the tv on and hear a loud (buzz/hum) that is the picture tube firing up, once it's fired up, it has a few more seconds until your picture comes up fully. That is about 5-10 secs from pushing the power button.
If it's taking longer than that, your picture tube may be going out.
I had a 36XBR250 and it took about 10 secs to fire up and show a picture, and it was 5 1/2 years old.

It will take some time to get the picture tube; especially to Sony TV. You can get it by the authorized service centre only. Sony won't sell it by open electronic spare part market; the availability chance too is rare. google.com/+GopakumarGopalan
Hi, This is picture tube related problem and we call it incorrect white balance. Adjust Screen Volts of picture tube and control knob wold be located on flyback transformer. If you have knowledge about tv and know that tv contains high voltage and you can take care of that then do it yourself or ask local tv repairman to fix it. Thanks.
Ur high voltage transformer it dead. The big block of plastic with the red wire with a cap hook to the CRT(ur tv tube). It call the FBT,
the Flyback Transformer that thing it dead.
The hight voltage transformer it dead. The FBT(The flyback transformer is dead)The block of plastic with the red wire with a cap hook to the CRT(the tv tube).
Check if your red CRT and green CRT lights up or not. If it doesn't light up your CRT is no good. Because its a damn sony the picture tube is $350. I advice the people not to buy sony.
I dont think it is your tube. Rather, the culprit is the one connected to your tube. Please check the crt socket. It is the connected to a circuit at the back of your tube. Have it replaced.
