Re: convergance circuit board
You don't need a convergence board the one you have could be fix the only problem is the alignment is not that easy and won't cost $ 500 unless you live in alaska and worth fixing it today you just get bad set made in chi???

TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THE LABEL ON THE BACK OF THE SET WITH THE MODEL NUMBER, IS IT MARKED PTK195?
THE PTK 195 uses a power supply mounted above the main boards and is about 10 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
It is very common on this model for one of the ten diodes to be shorted; confirm it is a 195 chassis and I will tell you how to locate the two diodes that fail. They supply voltage to the convergence circuit and I have seen dozens where one of them shorts.
Let me know what you find; is it a 195 chassis?
If this information has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free, rate it "very helpful".
If it is a 195 chassis let me know and I will pinpoint the location of the two diodes and tell you how to check them.
I located the board at PTS Electronics. Mine was the digital convergence board.
A little pricey but did the trick. Recommend that if you do not know how to drain off the capacitors. Let theTV sit unplugged for 3 to 5 days to drain them down below a possible fatal shock level.
Recommend taking good digital photos for your reinstall if you have no schematics or real electronic experience. Priceless advise !!
Do not touch any settings to try and adjust without knowing the original factory settings. It will get expensive to have a tech readjust. Lots of time to adjust and the tech knows you were there. $$$$
This tv make a lot loose connections. If you re solder and nothing change, check fly back area's is OK?... Look around convergence board for liquid coolant ( some times CTR liquid coolant projection splitter , becarfull, Liquid is danger!!) Wash yous hands and clean chassis with acetone.
Convergence PCB probably not available....can you get me any #'s off the PCB or part # of STK IC or location # of convergence IC ??? ..................Should be worth fixing if I can get alittle more info....................T.
Note to mountain mom: You have a completely different
symptom ..............+ need service #.............
Try DVD ? all inputs ? cable box ? source to RF coax= on ch.3 ?..............................T.
You can adj. from the front panel of the set using the channel and vol. buttons,if the set you have has a ptk 195 chassis, check and make sure you have adj. projection tv in screens of the menu,in not the convergence power supply has failed, replace the reg on the board, part number is 215530
Convergence on RCA P56940 chassis PTK195 can only be done by service center with RCA Chipper Check computer interface box. Sounds like possibly missing -15 volt or +15 volt supply to digital convergence circuit, bad i.c.'s U19503 or U19504. Supply voltages come from regulator supply transformer T19701 diodes CR19707 (-15 volts) and CR19709 (+15 volt)
