Maureen, Coleman Graphite Flashlight replace batteries. Remove bottom cap, it will be on tight, if you do not have good strength in your hands use a pair of pliers or channel locks. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

I'm not familiar with this particular torch but similar torches use an adaptor such as one depicted below to enable AAA batteries to be used where the primary battery is either a 18650 battery or two CR123 batteries in series. I hope this helps.
I gather that you have checked the bulb with a meter to see if it is bad. If it is xenon high intensity then they have a short lifespan because of the heat. If that is not the problem check the batteries with a meter to see if they are good and if they are, replace the switch.
In the early days of flashlights, the battery life was very
short. So if you needed to use a
flashlight, you would turn in on only for a second and then shut it off. Hence, the term flash-light.
