Question about Furniture
SOURCE: My EMS 9 massage chair
The massaging is done by small motors with eccentric weights attached to the shafts. Those motors are controlled thru a very simple control board that in your case appears to have failed.
To fix the chair you will have to access the board and find out why it has failed - at least a basic experience in electronics is required, to perform the tests on the relays and triacs used to control the motors. If you don't posses this experience then all you can do is to check that the power cable, the remote cable and the motors cables that plug in the board are firmly inserted - for everything else you will have to call a pro.

Shiatsu massage is a Japanese technique which denotes finger pressure. The shiatsu massage chairs integrate erratic rhythmic pressure on the required parts of the body which could also be termed as the acupressure points.
