SOURCE: homelite ut08107 will not fire. no spark at plug.

It may be the coil if there is not any spark. Or a wire could off at the coil. One more thing it could be is the spark plug wire may have came loose from the coil. These a few thing to check.

Hi cookinmechan. I will try to help out. Did you check the air filter to be sure it is clean? It could be the fuel tank vent that is located in the tank cap. Air should be able to go in and nothing should be able to come out, making it difficult for the carb fuel pump to bring the fuel to carb. Check the fuel lines for any cracks or degragation that could be plugging them. The carburator might need cleaning and new carb kit. There is a fine mesh filter in the carb that needs to be cleaned or replaced. That is a common problem with this type of carb. There could also be an air leak so you might want to check the screws and bolts for proper torque to make sure that doesn't happen. Is there a primer on the carb? Make sure it is working and hasn't come hard so that it doesn't pump enough gas to help start engine. Something that most people and some mechanics don't look at is carbon build up in the exhaust port making it difficult for exhaust. Remove the muffler and look for carbon build up. Sometimes there is not much of an opening for proper exhaust. To clean, bring piston to top dead center and get a piece of wood or plastic to scrape out carbon. Do not use any type of metal so no damage is done to piston or cylinder wall. I hope this helps you out a bit. All the best and good luck. Questions welcome.

SOURCE: I'm trying to get crank nut off bottom of Homelite Migjty Light 26b to get to spark wire. New plug but no spark. Wanted to check wire and coil.

check the small wire coming out from the coil first as it is the earth wire that you short out to stop the motor
check the switch first
there is not much to go wrong with a coil
to remove the nut use an impact wrench and puller (if necessary)

Homelite ST-155 has no spark

Heck switch by removing wire to coil. If no help remove spark plug laying metal part of plug agains cylinder head, pull cord and watch for spark. If you have none look for grounding if wire to coil along with grounding of spark plug wire. If you find no problem replace coil making sure you check gap of old coil and match with new.

I have a broken spark plug wire. Can these be replaced?

Steve:

Yes, the spark plug wire can be replaced, but you have to buy the ignition coil as the spark plug wire is hard wired into the ignition coil.

If the metal spark plug connector has disconnected from the spark plug wire, the connector can be replaced, but if the spark plug wire has been cut you'll need to replace the ignition coil.

Weed eater won't start. changed spark plug,

possibly on/off switch-has it gotten wet? Also check where wiring from on/off switch meets the wiring from the weedeater body.Check those connectors/crimps make sure theyre plugged in /right fit and not wet.Make sure youre ground wire is grounded/attatched/screwed to the machine.Ive had a weedeater get wet twice at the on/off switch and had to bring it in the A.C. overnight to really dry out.It worked.Hope this helps. If none of this does then its maybe the coil(semi-internal-no fun) or the fat wire carrying the spark from the plug to the body(semi-internal-no fun).Good luck!

Leaf blower

One suggestion, unscrew the spark plug and reconnect the high voltage wire. In a very dark area move the plug so that the plug thread touches some metal on the engine. Pull the starter cord. If you don't see a spark, remove the two screws on the handle and see if two wires are attached to the Stop Engine Switch. Remove one wire and bend it away from metal and try to see spark when pulling the start cord. If spark occurs, the Switch is shorted and needs replacing.
