Ps3 wont read games or dvd. but main menu is fine. system less than year old.

Replace the lens. For some people it is hard to do it. Just buy the whole PS3 DVD DRIVE then you dont have to replace the lens. The price should be less than $50. It is better than giving it to sony and waste you money plus they change your motherboard with old ones they have. Run away from them.

ring playstation hotline. if your computer is less than 1 year old or even a bit over they will send you out a refurbished unit.

If it's less than a year old, call Nintendo. The Wii has a 1 year warranty.

You seem to have alot of problems with your console.

im not a huge expert on ps3's but it sounds to me like the operating system within the PS3 has gone corrupt. no idea on how to fix this one though im afraid id suggest getting in contact with sony

It's a Sony defect with the blu-ray lasers. They only last 1-3 years with average use. If your PS3 is less than a year old and you still have the original receipt Sony will repair the problem for free. Otherwise they're going to charge you $150 for the repair. You can reach them at: 1-800-345-SONY

Unless you have a technical background in electronics there's nothing I would suggest doing. A firmware update and or CD /DVD cleaner disk will do nothing for your problem. I've fixed more than 100 PS3's with this exact problem so I know exactly what I'm talking about.

It may be just dust on the laser or you may need the laser replaced.

You are covered by a 12 month warranty from Sony it sounds like the laser is not reading the discs but check to see if the auto start feature is turned on in the settings menu as then the game will automatically start when the disc is inserted

ts a problem with the latest download update. sorry to say but its a job for sony as long as its still under warranty. just phone them up explain the probs your having and they will send you a new (normally reconditioned) unit out. sony's replacement service is very good.
