If your speakers not wired up properly sometimes the bass can shake the wire off and it leads to a horrible crackly noise, make sure it's securely wrapped around and tied to the terminal. Otherwise it could be a blown speaker or you are trying to put more power into the speaker than the speaker can handle.

Marantz PM 550DC amp. Hooked up speakers and left side of speaker system works fine. Right side crackles BADLY and won't come in. What's the simplest cause for this? Oxidization? Thanks

First swap wires on the input and see if same side has a problem. If not then input wires or jacks causing it. If wires swap doesnt do anything then switch speakers with wires. If that doesnt work try to clean speaker connectors but there is a big chance that amplifier need to be repaired

Right speaker is distorted with low volume, left side is fine. Swapped speakers no difference (ie it isn't a speaker problem). Using the balance knob, full left sounds fine, full right is very distorted...

Possibly one of the power transisitors has gone out. They are typically used in pairs, and if one went out, this is likely what you would experience.

Open the unit and look for the power transistors. The have 3 leads and should be connected directly to a heat sync. If one burnt out, it will likely be obvious by just looking at it. Power transistors are cheap (>$10) and there are many online sources to by them from. With a litle soldering skill, shouldn't be too bad.

Sony DAV-SC8. I'm suddenly getting distortion

It sounds like the speakers themselves are the problem rather than the amp.
Although, it would be rare to have overdriven/blown the surrounds.
My suggestion would be to isolate which speakers or channels (on Amp) are at fault.
Swap left and right to see if the problem transfers across.

I have distortion coming out of my front right channel of my AVR

Yes, sounds like your DSP chip has an issue. Not an inexpensive repair if that's the culpret. Around 400-500 to replace the chip. It's an awesome receiver and worth 300-400 in repair, however, a 3800 or 1800 can be had for 600-800 depending where you look. If you need more help, post a comment and I can help you some more.

Pioneer SX-750 Old School Need Help

It could be a dirty control or switch, working them back and forth could prove that. Other than that, It's likely bad outputs. A unit that old may have transistors for outputs but might be IC's. Transistors can be tested with an ohm meter to see if they're good or not. Also if it has transistor outputs, they may have a small value resistor on the Emitters, check those as well.

Hope that helps...

Sound from all speakers problem

I would suspect the lead from your tv or video and swap this.ie where are you feeding tv signal to amp from.more than likely faulty lead or socket at this point.swap around the leads and see does fault transfer to the opposite channel.keep with it sounds like set up problem of some sort,.
