SOURCE: Ineed a tilt head for vivitar 914 tripod

Because of the age of the tripod, and the fact that Vivitar no longer sells or supports tripods, I think you would be better served if you bought a new tripod. Slik and Manfrotto are two that will offer you a great price, durability and in the case of the Manfrotto, parts available from a wide range of sources including the USA distributor: you can see tripod and parts at Otherwise you could try ebay or craigs list to find the same model and use it for parts.

I need a tripod head locking handle. This is the handle that maintains the vertical orientation of the tripod head.

Various makes of tripod head use different methods of attaching the pan and tilt handle. Try an Ebay search for spares for your particular make and model.

I have a Samsonite tripod with a quick release plate. Is it possible to get another head? one that has a screw so that cameras can be threaded onto it?

Try for that part. There is listed the widest selection of quick releases and support more brands than any other web site I've seen. Because your tripod is not supported by the manufacturer; parts lists and pars are not available, you should measure the opening and see what other brand quick releases will work paying attention to the shape and locking mechanism. Otherwise just get another tripod.

I have a Manfrotto 058 tripod. One leg wont hold weight & retracts under load. This model uses a quick release lever at the top of the leg to control the telescopic height of each leg. How can I repair...

If you notice, the legs locks are attached to bothe the upper part of the leg and the sloghtly smaller diameter lower. Take a socket (8mm I believe) and tighten the lower 2 nuts to the bottom of the leg lock.
