How do I record off my Virginmedia Tivo box

You need to connect the cable signal into the TiVo, activate the TiVo with Virgin Media and then you can record using the record button on your TiVo peanut-shaped remote control.

Why wont my pillow remote work on my virgin tivo box?

Oh boy. here is the problem. i have also a 106240 IR/UHF receiver/transmitter that changes the channels in the satellite box from another room so i can watch them in a second tv at channel 4. the original remote for the 106240 is broken and i bought another UHF remote #153638. So i need to program the new remote to work and link with the 106240 receiver, NOT the satellite box or the tv. Is there any expert here to enlighten us how can be done ? Very simple question :how to program the remote 153638 to link with the 106240. Thank you in advance

Comcast cable channel one off from Tivo channel

I've never, ever heard of this problem - having been a happy TiVo user for over 15 years. The very first thing I would do is call Comcast and tell them what is occurring. How long had everything worked OK before this happened? If things were OK for a long time before this, and if your TV carrier was, likewise, Comcast for a long time; and if you haven't gotten a new TV or cable box for a long time, then the problem must rest with Comcast. It must!
In our home, with the number of movies, shows/sporting events/etc. which we record, that would be totally unacceptable!

Try this: Unplug everything (with everything turned off). Make sure your TiVo remote is good (fully charged batteries and the code is right for your TV/cable box), Wait for 10 minutes and plug everything back in, starting with TiVo, then the TV, then any other accessories.

Plug back in and do a complete restart from scratch - like you did when you first set up TiVo.

Make SURE that your receiving channel (3 or 4) is the same on both. It could be that someone accidentally has changed it - are there kids in the house?

If none of this works, get Comcast in there. That's all I can tell you. . .

When my Tivo stops recording a show on, say, channel 54, instead of staying on channel 54 it switches to channel 5. In other words, it only gets ''part'' pf the channel number. This happens with other...

The end of the IR Cable that attaches to your cable box may have to be repositioned.

Try moving it a small distance (you are already close or you wouln't be receiving ANY channel changing info. from it) and see if that helps.

Good luck!

Tivo won't change my TV Channels anymore with direct cable

I re-did the guided setup in the Tivo under Messages & Settings/Restart-Reset System/Restart menu section in Tivo. Once I did that, it cleared this issue, even though I didn't have to change any of my settings thru this guided setup. I tried a reset alone first, but that did not fix it. Only this fixed it. We had lost both power and cable during a recent tree fall in a storm, and when both were restored, this problem started. I have a cable coax directly in the back of the TV (no cable box/IR etc) and the system is on a home wireless network. I actually have 2 identical Tivo's in the house set up the same way but only one had this problem. The other worked no different after the outage.

Connecting my Humax Series 2 Tivo to a Motorola HD DCH3416 Cable Box

Yes, the Tivo will just record in standard definition, instead of high def.

You can still hook the two up together, though.

What I would suggest (and have done in the past) is this:
Split the cable coming out of the cable box.
Hook one up to your HD cable box, and the other up to the Tivo.
Hook the output of your HD cable box to one HD input on your TV
Hook the output of your Tivo up to a different (non-HD) input on your TV.

This will allow you to watch HD while recording standard definition, and vise versa.

Running the HD through the Tivo will work, but will limit you to not be able to watch HD through it.

TIVO DVR : Won't Change Channels

Set up your infrared blasters connected from your IR port on the Tivo and by placing the two lead lights in front of your cable box so it (the cable box) can read the signal.  Then go to Channel settings accessed through Tivo Central and follow the questions. It will ask you to change channels until the remote is working correctly.  This all worked on a different "input" on my Mitsubishi TV (it has multiple inputs.  I have the cable input on a different "input" to make it work.  Hope this helps.  Call TIVO tech assistance because they are the ones who talked me through this.

Tivo and direct tv

No, unfortunately there is not. That tivo only has 1 tuner, so you can only record or watch 1 live program. You can however watch a pre-recorded program while recording a live program. If you have directv, you can step up and get their hr20 dvr. It's not a tivo by any means, but it has 2 tuners so you can record 2 things at once and watch a pre-recorded show. It takes a little while to get used to the interface, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty straightforward.

You can also get an older DVR w/ tivo (hr10) however, it will not get ANY of the new MPEG4 High Def channels that are out there.

If you have an hdtv, then you really should grab an hr20, give directv customer retention a call and ask what they can do for you. You'll need a new slimline dish and they'll come out install it and everything you need for watching off the new satellites and enjoying the new mpeg4 hd channels (the old hd channels are in mpeg2).

Good luck.
