SOURCE: igniters will not work

did the water fall on the spark module do you hear a faint click ,igniters dont go bad if they get wet if you say theres power going to the cooktop then you might have a bad spark module.

SOURCE: igniters are not working right

when you turn any burner control to lite all ignitors should click this is normal industry wide. the ignitors are controlled by switches that are placed over the valve shafts they are wired up together so thats why they all click when you only operate one valve don't worry about it. the ignitor stays on untill you back the valve off a tad this is also normal.

The igniter on the right front burner of my GE Gas cooktop does not work....I must use a lighter or match to ignite....What can I do? There is no clicking sound when I turn on the burner?

all burner igniters work at the same time - you may have a faulty electronic spark unit. change the spark unit. go to repair clinic dot come for the unit. also would be wise to check the ingniter start switch on the gas burner control knob

The spark element continues to click at all times, even after the flame is lit. The only way we can stop it is to unplug the stove.

Each valve has a switch on it, so that when any valve is set to the lite position, all igniters should spark.
The most common reason to see your symptoms is that a person has cleaned the cooktop and water, or whatever cleaner was used, has gotten into one or more of these switches (which are located on the shaft of each burner control knob) and is shorting one or more switches. Most times, if you let it go a day or two, it will dry out on it's own and start to work correctly again. If not, you may have to replace one or more of these switches.

Spark igniters on the burners fire continuously

When cleaning, if the control switches get damp, they will react as you describe.
Unplug the appliance, use a hair dryer and attempt to dry the switches.
Leave it unplugged overnight and try them again tomorrow.
They will eventually dry and be OK.

1 burner wont stop clicking on miele cooktop km 344

We have an older Thermador Gas Cooktop type range. It was working fine until the cleaning crew came in, then all the burner igniters were clicking when turning on a single burner. I solved the problem by cleaning off the igniters. I first of course unplugged the power. Then I took a small wire telcom pic tool to scrape the white and brown deposits from the sides of the igniters. You could probably use something else similiar to do the scraping. I noticed a shiny surface underneath. I then went ahead and scraped and brushed clean the mating surface where the spark travels. I then vacuumed up the mess. My burners all worked great after this. Hope this helps!
