Question about Krups Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines
The Machine continues to display the error and makes a loud clicking noise that seems to come from the bottom area of the machine. The machine was taken a part and coffee grinder was not clogged.
Error code 01 accompanied by that noise points at the distributor being faulty. The distributor is the electronic tap that directs water to the ram to compress the grounds in the boiler and then redirects it to the brewing chamber to make the coffee, then to steam, then to rinse. It's the sort of item you just replace because it's quite a large job to change it anyway, not the sort of repair you want to be doing over and over trying not to spend money on the part.

It is possible that instead of 5d that you have a SD. The SD error is usually form an excess of suds in the washer. In most cases you can run the machine through a couple rinse cycles and clear that right up. If that does not work then you will need to clean out the drain and your pump filter. The filer is located behind the bottom panel and you just unscrew it from the pump. If infact you had a 5D error then I am sorry for misinforming you, I have just never heard of a 5 D and I have been services them for years. I really hope this helped you, good luck. Blocked pump, open flap bottom right, drain off excess water manually and remove pump filter. Make sure you get right down and have a look in at the impellor and give it a turn to make sure its free to rotate. You'll probably find a coin, button etc that is catching the pump impellor. When you start a cycle the pump engages for a few seconds and then the w/m takes in water, so if something is stopping the impellor rotating the w/m will not start.
Best of luck

LF = Long Fill
LF flashes when the water level does not change for a period of time after the valves are turned on OR water has disengaged the basket but control does not detect a water level change.
Is water supply connected and turned on?
Are hose screens plugged?
Is water entering the tub? If so check pressure hose connection to machine/motor control.

Testimonial: "We followed your suggestion and disconnected the hoses and they had "gunk" in them. We flushed them out, reconnected and everything seems to be fine."
